Great telescope. It was recommended by my local astronomy group. My son is 10 and very into astronomy. Wanted a nice telescope for him that would be easy to use and would help him find the planets
I bought this for Star Gazing, but works great land too. The star finder using my iPhone is amazing technology.. The red dot locator scoped warms great too. The moon was great with both supplied lenses. Viewing Saturn and Jupiter was disappointing. Just not enough magnification. This would be a great first time telescope, but not for younger children without parental assistance.
I did a ridiculous amount of research before I chose this telescope. I'm a complete beginner, and I really wanted a refractor telescope because I was not ready to deal with the collimation needs I read about for a reflector scope. This was about as the best I could find for the money, and I looked everywhere. I also caught it on sale, so I was very happy with the price. I haven't even used the Smartphone app, which is another primary reason I chose this scope. Still, on the same night I received it I had it together in no time and was looking at a full moon, Jupiter and its four primary moons, and Saturn with its ring. It is light and very portable which is great for me too, since I'm in a bit of a transitional place right now (closing up my parents' house since they passed and haven't decided yet where I'm going next, now that I can go anywhere in the world!!). I think for a beginner this telescope is high quality and very intuitive (aka easy) to use. I may later add a larger reflector scope, but this is perfect to get familiar with the night sky and form an idea of what might work even better for my situation down the road.
Love it, shipped on time received in perfect shape
It's an ok telescope. The quality is just ok. It would be ok for a beginner. Orion telescope made a much better quality scope but they went out of business.
I ordered this telescope from Telstraight thru the Walmart website, and would never order from this company again. Obviously, I received a used telescope--several parts missing, and the company will not respond to my messages. Walmart is no help at all.
