Lowdin on the Lowdown sandal

Ed May 9, 2025

Typical high Chaco quality, easy to custim fit. The only issue is I have foot problems so the thinner sole on these did not work for me, I need more cushioning. But, I gave them to my son and hes been wearing them non stop. Great sandals for those without foot issues. I ordered a different pair of Chacos with thicker soles and they are outstanding.

Lightweight & durable. Needs strap management.

Peter August 18, 2025

These sandals are well constructed. They held up well on a mountain hike while in Colorado on a trip. The only issue is that they have a long strap that gets underneath the sandal when walking. It would be great if they had some sort of strap management to keep it from getting stepped on and prematurely worn. I doubled mine back through the straps which solves the dragging in the dirt problem but makes it a pain to adjust.

Nice sandals, 1 tiny issue

Doctor G March 31, 2025

Super comfortable and they look great. One strap has some loose threads that get caught on the buckle, and even after I trim them, they still get caught on the buckle and make it hard to completely loosen the strap. Not the end of the world, just a little annoying. Still very happy with my purchase, but this is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.

Not what I was hoping for.

JD September 2, 2024

I really wanted to love these sandals. I was looking for ones to replace my old, heavy, rigid Chacos from 15 years ago. I still love the look of these, and when they arrived I loved that they were super lightweight and comfortable. But like other reviews have said, I've struggled to keep them tight and adjusted to my foot. The buckle/strap doesn't hold and after walking for 5 or 10 minutes they loosen and my foot slides back on the footbed and they rub my feet. I keep having to stop, slide my foot forward, adjust the straps, and tighten them. They're not for walking or hiking like I wanted them for. They will be ok for light sandals to wear around the house or camping, or as water shoes to walk in the river. But not for walking any distance at all.

Cinch buckle worries. I want to love these!

Dry Flying March 18, 2025

These are very comfortable and tightening them down is super easy. The only thing I've had an issue with is the strap and cinch buckle. On the right sandal, the cinch buckle started to fray the strap. I tightened it down and had to use a lot of force to get them off, fraying it even more. A little lighter action, burned off the frayed part but it still catches. I have to be careful when tightening and loosing.

Low quality materials—returned.

Ian September 24, 2024

I wanted these to be great. The other pair of Chacos I've had for years has been great. I loved the idea of a lower profile lightweight version. These are not it. There have been obvious compromises in material quality. The webbing is so thin—it won't hold the tension of an adjustment. I found myself having to stop and tighten the straps every 20 steps or so. It also makes me wonder how long they would even last, seeing some of the other reviews of straps fraying and breaking after not much use. I returned these after a few sessions trying to make them work, but sadly, they're just not well made.

Major Disappointment

Mark July 1, 2025

I have been wearing my original Chacos for over decade which have had new straps and soles, twice. I love them. I saw these decided to try a pair that wear considerably lighter for some casual wear. A lot of the reviews are spot on. The soles lack support and feel like wearing flip flops very quickly. The worst part however are the straps. The two times I've worn them and tried to take them off, the strap got caught in the buckle. I would return them if I could.

Disappointed Purchase.

D. May 30, 2025

I have owned many pairs of Chacos becuase they have been comfortable, high quality footwear. My most recent purchase, you can tell that the materials have been cheapened and they are far less comfortable. This will be the last pair I purchase.
