If you are a lady with wide feet, I highly recommend the mens sizes. I thought chaos weren't for me, but when I saw the Oberon design, I knew I needed them. I previously had purchased women's chacos in a wide about 6 years ago, and ended up giving them away because they didnt fit and always rubbed. The mens size is much more comfortable with adequate room.
I bought these after returning a different brand that didn't really stand up to the on-the-move activities we do in the summer. I spent so much time going back and forth, researching and trying to make sure I was investing the money in a sandal that was not only going to last, but was going to be comfortable. The first pair were comfortable but had a functionality problem. A friend asked why I didn't just get a pair of Chacos... So I returned the other pair and went with the classic pair! Very happy I made that call and very happy sandal weather is sticking around longer! Once the straps are adjusted for the right fit, these stay on all day, doesn't matter if I'm on the trail, at the beach, in the store or office. I did make sure to follow the instructions provided and spend a little extra time right off the bat making sure I was adjusting everything to feel great. I don't need wide width or anything special...I just need something that goes as much as I do! I love them so much that I'm thinking of investing in a second pair next year.
I purchased my first pair of these sandals 23 years ago. I have hiked in them, rafted in them, run errands in them, and walked many, many, many miles in them. These are my go-to summer shoes and I always look forward to putting them on when the weather warms up after a wet Oregon winter. I bought the basic black so they go with everything! The soles of that pair finally broke in half on a recent trip to Nova Scotia, so when I returned home, I promptly purchased another pair of the exact. same. shoe. The only difference I notice with the new pair is that the sole feels a little softer. I liked the old sole, but this one feels even better! I'm looking forward to the next 23 years with my new black Chacos!
I have always chosen Chaco for their fit, durability, and comfort. I purchased this pair after the footbed, not the sole but the entire footbed, of my last pair split in half. Not cool when you are far out there. Expect to get two solid years of regular wear, but get ready for the self-destruct mode.
Chacos are perfect for hiking and everyday wear! I do wonder if they aren't made quite as well anymore? My sister passed down a pair and the top of the shoe/plastic part is still in nearly perfect condition after over 5 years! But a Cloud version that I ordered just 2 years ago is already wearing out. Other then that though, Chacos are great!! I highly recommend the Z/1 and Z/2 models!
Replacement for broken Chaco. I'm not sure what happened to the quality of the Chaco product but the last three pairs I have had: I have had replaced due to material breakdown. Not a product I suggest to people now and I'm purely riding on the refund/replace contract you have with customers.
I have 14 pairs of chacos and have loved them all until this order - I don't like either one. The sides of the back are too high and are tight and hurt my feet. I am unable to wear them and not able to return them. It's frustrating to not be able to do anything with them.
My last pair lasted me about 10 years and were great. These have been really disappointing and might be my last pair of chacos. They are very uncomfortable and if I could return them I would. The adjustments I make to the straps do not hold, so they rub my feet and irritate them. This also leads to them not feeling very secure on my feet. The arch on these is huge, to the point it just hurts after wearing for awhile. I've had to stop wearing them because they've been causing me foot pain. Was hoping I'd break them in, but they are a pain to wear. Really disappointed with these, last pair was great right from the start but these are terrible.

Cut up my feet! Even after a thorough adjustment, both of my big toes were cut up and bleeding all over my feet after only 45mins of wearing. Then, I also got blisters on my feet. These absolutely suck so horribly bad. I was recommended these by someone I USED to trust and after I mentioned they hurt they said “they just need time to break in” only thing getting broken in here are my toes. Awful. Save your $100+ and buy literally anything else to put on your feet. Heck, go barefoot it'd be better for you.
