I installed and programmed the unit myself for the most part. A neighbor helped me for about an hour when we hung the unit. I used BILT instructions for most of it. I found BILT instructions lacking when it came to programming the unit. I found a YouTube video that helped with that and had no issues programming the unit. I had no issues adding the unit to my WiFi or syncing it with the MyQ app. Things that could be better: The Chamberlain replaced a unit from another vendor so I could not reuse the mounting hardware and the Chamberlain ships with no mounting hardware for the motor unit. My neighbor and I had to design and fabricate a mounting solution which we did from materials that I had and his angle grinder, This was within our combined skill sets but took time. The other issue is the sensor mounting brackets which are designed to clip on to the door rails. My house was built in 1929 and the door travels on some pretty beefy rails that these clips don't come close to fitting (not too surprising). I used a couple blocks of wood, mounted them parallel to the rails and the sensors found each other the first on the first try. I did tweak the receiver using the provided toggle bolt adjustment to establish and maintain a solid lock. One last thing: I cannot link the unit with the HomeLink in my 2021 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition. I also cannot find documentation that defines if this should or should not work. Please clarify. To be clear. The answer should be YES In closing, after a week, the unit works great. Lots of features. It's great to have a working garage door opener again!
We just had this installed a month ago and I got a new car. 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. I hooked up Homelink and it worked for 1 day. Now I cannot close the garage with Homelink, I can only open it. Not sure why this is happening. I am using the MyQ App and it is great but when I am driving alone it is easier to use Homelink button.
Not sure what the problems are people are having but they sound like installation mistakes. Mine went up in a day, all remotes, keypad and push button work flawlessly. If you use the bilt app instructions it clearly states that if direct sunlight hits one of the remotes to make sure it's the sending unit and not the receiving one. I think that would account for alot of these symptoms people are complaing about. You really have to follow the directions, which brings me to my main complaint, THERE ARE NO WRITTEN DIRECTIONS. I don't want to have to try to look at a small phone, get my phone filthy, etc. Give me written directions. Also, the wires are barely long enough to reach the sensors, and the button. Come on, give me a few extra feet, it's penny cheap.
The directions say to scan a QR code and download an app for 3D installation instructions. These were very detailed but I found it much easier to go to YouTube and watch the Chamberlain video for the install. Once it was installed I could not get it to move. It kept flashing the lights. I read online after searching for a long time that I needed to adjust the up and down travel first. I did not find that anywhere in the troubleshooting steps. Also not compatible with my Eufy garage door camera/opener. I should have checked compatibility before I chose this specific chamberlain model. I have no idea yet how reliable this will be. Just installed one week ago.
Just had this installed, seems to be working just fine as a garage door opener and closer but is there not a motion sensor for the light?? If there is, it does not seem to be working and there is nothing in the manual regarding the light.
Remotes unable to open garage door if more than 25 feet from motor with door opened. You have to hold remote switch for several seconds in order to open. I had a Chamberlain that was almost Identical to the one I installed and had no problems with the remotes. I think the new receiver board does not have the power the old one had.
Not my exact model but used to like my opener until Myq is no longer supported on Google Assistant. Other companies have this figured out yet Chamberlain can't or won't for "security reasons". I possibly understand not being able to open your door but closing it should be available by voice. Don't understand why they can't make opening available with a security code. No longer recommend!!
Was loud because it kept vibrating so much to the point I had to put cloth on the angled iron as a vibration isolator, it also keeps failing the safety reversal test no matter how much the rail was bowing. Part of that was because the opener keeps adding more force due to the gear hitting the chain spreader.
From day one, openers haven't worked correctly. Have reset the door limits on them and they might work. The one that I'm able to use kind of, will close and stay closed sometimes. The other one, always has blocked sensor message and flat out won't close. Can't set the limits due to it never closing as it should, have replaced the sensors and made sure they are aligned (both lights are ON and go OFF if I put my hand in front of the eye). Far from being quiet, my wife has commented on that numerous times even after spraying the chain. Won't use Chamberlin again.
I've just finished putting the chain back onto the idler pulley for the fifth time in two years. And the is no information on why this happens, and nothing to do to prevent this from happening again.
