I have a low support beam in the garage, so I went with the Wall Mount opener. It was professionally installed along with a new garage door. The unit has worked flawlessly over the ~6 years except for the battery in the unit died which I have not replaced. Our family does not usually use the front door to our home, we always go through the garage. The unit has worked flawlessly as the only repair over times has been a broken spring on the garage door unrelated to the opener. We have this same opener as another house while it does not get the same daily use as this unit, it also has been flawless in its operation. We also use the myQ app to make sure that we closed the garage door after leaving. The app also notifies me when we leave the garage door open for longer than 15 minutes. The app also lets you open and close the garage remotely, so I do not need to always give the keypad code out.
I really didn't want a door opener with Wi-Fi, but there was only one that I could find and it had horrible reviews. I purchased 2 of these for my pole barn with 14' tall doors. Installation was real easy. Only downfall is they don't include instruction on the installation in the box. However, Chamberlain has a very good video on YouTube. Programming was a breeze. These openers are so quiet. I have had them installed for a couple of months now. I will never buy another overhead door opener again, wall mount is the way to go.
I bought this almost two weeks ago when my old garage door opener broke. I was able to use the bilt app and download instructions before I bought it so I could do the measurements needed to mount it and prep the area to mount it in. I worked a little slower due to an injury but after a day of prep and unrelated finishing, the door opener mounted in less than 4 hours, with a large part of the time routing wires. It fit my 16 x 7 foot door running on 5 inch wheels. I'll update later if the performance changes.
I just finished installing the RJO101, it frees up a lot of room and is very quiet. I would give it 5 stars except there are three flaws that need to be corrected: 1 – Walking through the safety sensor beam does not turn on the myQ light. Every residential garage door opener with safety sensors for the last 40 years has had this feature, it is disappointing this high-end model doesn't have it. 2 - The motion sensor built into the wall mounted control panel does not have a large enough range. 3 – The BILT installation instructions have a glaring error on step 69. The printed text and voice over are correct, they both state to insert the white sensor wires into the white terminal and the white/black sensor wires into the grey terminal, but the picture shown within that step has it just the opposite.
Hey Chamberlain, do all your customers a favor. Make an installation manual and include it in the box. I worked my way through the installation with the small hints in the instruction manual specs but wow that was not easy making it up. If it were not for that 3rd party app for installing I would not have been able to do it. I still do not know nor can I find any information on the wiring jacks within the opener. What are the green ones for? I can't find anything mentioning them.
This Garage door opener is very nice, and is quiet, as touted. A installation manual would be great if put in the box, the video here misses some things. The RJO101 is different than the RJO070 shown in the installation video and as such, some of the wiring holes are slightly different. Also NO labeling on the pin headers for the deadbolt lock is a miss (as there are 2 identical headers). But if you're even remotely savvy with tech, its not too hard. Would also be nice, for the price, if a pin-pad for outside the garage door was included. Overall 8/10. Would definitely buy again. Once the physical install was complete, the MyQ portion of the setup was an absolute breeze, which was a wonderful surprise because I've had a standalone MyQ bridge before for an older opener and it was a royal pain in the behind to get going.
I just finished installing it. I hated having to use an app to view the installation instructions. They weren't always clear and it took many many replays of some of them to figure it out. Just give me a printed manual with much better illustrations. Also I can't find any instructions anywhere for how the wall mounted control works. There is a motion sensor and some sort of timer function but I just have to guess at how it works as there is no mention of it in the included manual, the app, or even searching on Google
I have had the door opener about three months. In that time have had several issues with the door and it's functioning, almost like it is a lemon. Random out of no where issues with double checking and servicing each time, re doing force, door closing, measuring and resetting. So many errors and so much hassle. This is absolutely something I would NOT recommend to ANYONE!
We have 4 garage doors in our new pole barn. We had a professional install them. So far, 3 of them have gone off kilter while lowering. They are very quiet and work great when they work! Right now we have one sitting partially open until the installer can get back to readjust again. I must add we rarely use these garage doors!!!
A video is useless as an install manual. You even say in the video it's not a manual but don't put one in box or online. You win the consumer unfriendly award of the year. Maybe a good product maybe crap. Without installation manual no one will ever know. Junk don't buy unless you are having it installed professionally.
