This is a wonderful grill. Have used both gas and charcoal, both fuels work very well. The control on the gas grill lets you slow cook, or quick sear. The 3 controls work great together, and also very well on their own. The Charcoal section is close to the grates which makes searing very easy. You can leave a couple of the charcoal sections empty which gives you a cool spot to slow cook. Heats up quickly and can get super hot, or steady low temp for roasting. Out performs my Weber Gas Grill due to its versatility. Will see how durable it is over time. Got a cover with it, grill and cover have been a great investment.
I am loving it. The gas lights the charcoal very easily. But it takes a few minutes. The button lighter uses a battery, and works perfectly. Not like the older style that never worked for me. The only thing that I'd change is to make the charcoal basket adjustable. There is no way to raise or lower it to adjust heat. Since I do not use the entire surface to cook with, I'm going to try reducing the amount of charcoal in some areas, giving me zones of heat. Even cooking with the gas instead of charcoal works better than my older grill. It seems to get much hotter. It is the best if both worlds, gas and charcoal.
I Love this Grill! The conversion from gas to charcoal is easy and quick. The only criticism I have is that you can't lower the charcoal so you have to build a thin layer of charcoal to be able to put the grilling grates in so you can cook. The good news is that the charcoal stays VERY hot for a VERY long time. If you're not used to charcoal grilling, (I have exclusively used a gas grill for 30 years), be sure to build the fire at least an hour before you start grilling. Briquets might be easier to use than lump charcoal because some of the bigger chunks were too high to allow the grates to rest on the edges of the inside where they belog. Lighting the charcoal is easy because you just let the gas do it for you. LOVE IT!!!
Was pretty easy to assemble. However, if you have fat fingers, some of the bolts to be added might be difficult as there's not much room to insert the bolts and then screw the bolts in. A screwdriver with magnetic bits probably would be helpful. Make sure to follow the assembly diagrams as given.
Awesome grill and very convenient. The size is perfect and the flavor on my food is amazing. Well worth it. I did followed every step in order to preserve the grill. Make sure you pre season the grill before first use.
this hybrid is an awesome idea if your in a rush the gas fires right up and cooks, when you have time your can use the briquetts add some smoker chips. it is a good design
We are enjoying our grill very much. We love the Gas to coal. Such a great idea. It is very easy to use and it's the perfect size for our family. We are given our grill as a part of Ellen's 12 days of Giveaways. We are so grateful because our previous grill was getting older and needed to be replaced. We have been even grilling in the winter because we love it so much.
This grill was a pain to put together. You literally have to put every piece together and it had lots of pieces. The instructions were so-so because you have extra parts that they don't show in the instructions. It took awhile to even get it to light and next time I buy a grill it won't be this brand.
Hard to assemble. There weren't any written instructions-just pictures. I followed the pictures on 1 page and then turned to the next page and had to put screws in where I had covered up the holes so had to disassemble what I had done.
I bought this grill about one year ago so I can no longer return it or I would. I would definitely not purchase again. I mostly use the gas function but have used the charcoal function a few times. We have only used it 6-8 times and I feel as if I can't leave the grill because it lights on fire every time. I have tried cleaning it, etc. We have not used it enough times for this to happen. The flames get so high I have to turn off all but one burner and cook everything on one side. The grill to me is useless and dangerous. I wish I could get my money back.
