I never want to use the knives from my knife block for small jobs and have these cheapy go-to knives I use all the time and love. I'll replace them when they go dull, so I have a drawer full of unused knives. I got this sharpener as a gift about a month ago and decided to test it out on one of the dull, Asian paring knives I have. After pulling the knife through both sides of the first slot, my knife was able to cut through a lime like butter! Love how easy it was to use too.
Top quality and top performance knife sharpener! Compact size, ease of operation, and super-effective sharpening are the key features. Love this new kitchen tool :)
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Sharpened a bunch of old knives we had that had been dull for a long time. Easy to use. Amazed at how much sharper they were than with my manual sharpener. Process is quick about 5 to 10 minutes per knife depending on how dull it was. (Most took about 5 minutes) not too loud. Doesn't take up too much room. Looking forward to sharpening more knives (read: joy to use- going to sharpen every blade in the house just cause I can- and then bring it to my relatives house to sharpen all their knives)
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This knife sharpener is amazing. It has helped to revive some of my dullest knives. Many of my knives are old and have become very dull over the years. I've tried a sharpening steel before but it would not adequately sharpen my knives and they would become more dull than before. I love that this knife sharpener is electric and motorized. It does a fantastic job at sharpening my old knives. It is important to read the manual to get the machine properly set up. The manual is helpful and easy to follow.
I was really impressed by the way this sharpener held the knives in precisely the correct angle. I've had manual knife sharpeners in the past, and they were only mildly satisfactory, so I was somewhat skeptical about how this one would do. I started out, sharpening several stainless steel blades which most people know are the most difficult to get any type of an edge on. I had to run the blades through the sharpener a number of times but in the end it put a very nice edge on the blade. When I got to the high carbon steel knives, it was amazing how well this sharpener performed. I am not sure I would call the edge razor sharp, but it was very close. Some people might consider the cost a little bit high, but for how this performs, it was well worth the money.
Wow, what an easy to use knife sharpener that looks good even if you keep it out on your countertop. 1st section is 15° for Euro style knifes, 2nd is the most common 20° %26 the 3rd section is to fine tune the edge. I like that the 3rd phase is automatic too.
My first attempt at sharpening a European/American knifes went extraordinarily well. The ones I've done so far have held their edges and significantly improved the cutting control when using them as I need to use little to no pressure to slice. I do now have to be extra careful handling them.
Unless you like sharpening your knives by hand, and know the correct angles for Japanese knives and American/German knives. This isn't for you! But it is for ME! Love how sharp they get with this sharpener. I have tried several. This one is worth every dime and Pennies I spent. Without going to a professional shop.
Out of the box it sharpens knives without any major issues, but it is apparent that the plastic alignment guard will wear out fairly quickly. Even as you follow the directions and pull the knife through the guard with care it cuts a groove in the plastic alignment guard. Only a matter of time until the groove becomes large enough to create an issue.
Works great for kitchen knives but chewed up a pocket knife.
