Love that you have no additional parts to change out or lose for different sizes. Just turn the dial! No searching for extra parts. And just turn the dial for a sharper blade.
My order arrived in great time and it is perfect! This Olfa chinnille rotary cutter is the best! The price was the very best I found on line or in my stores.
Makes quick work of cutting chenille strips. Love the ease of size selection & rotating to new edge of blade. Also, ease of changing blades. Even with these options, the cutter remains remarkably stable while cutting!
This made cutting through the layers for a faux chenille blanket so easy. My fingers didn't ache and I got it done in a lot less time. Yes you do need to defuzz it occasionally but I would much rather do that than have aching fingers and risk cutting through all of the bacterial accidently with scissors.
I have always wanted to try a chenille quilt. I received this cutter as a gift and put it to use immediately. I found it moved through the layers of fabric with ease- 4 layers of quilting cotton and 2 layers of cotton flannel. Love the end result.
Easy to use but the dial turns hand closes while using. I had to duct tape it to make it stay in the channel I was cutting. I like that their are multiple sizes on one unit.
This little cutter is so much easier than scissors for cutting narrow strips of fabric. The only complaint is that lint tends to build up between the plastic and the blade preventing the blade from cutting easily and smoothly. The lint is fairly easy to remove by rotating the blade through the different cutting channels and scraping it out with a pin.
This cutter was invaluable to the project I was making, however it arrived broken and I had to duct tape it together to work. I am hoping Walmart will replace it at no cost to me.
Works great, but I found that I needed to rotate the blade a number of times on just one 36" x 44" panel quilt (3 layers to cut through.) Maybe, as per another review, it was just getting clogged with lint, or was it getting dull that quickly? (Remember, the blade doesn't rotate as you cut, so the same point is being used for each cut until you turn the knob.) However, I find the video confusing - it makes it look like the S, M, L, LL channel guides will all work in the same-width channel to create the finer/coarser results. You need to choose the width of the cutter's guide to fit the width of the channel you've sewn (or more precisely - you need to sew the channels to match the width(s) of the guide(s).) That will determine the length of the resulting threads that will fluff up when you brush and wash it.
I bought this chenille cutter when I was struggling with a jeans quilt project. My hands were so tired of cutting denim with scissors. The chenille cutter greatly helped with that process. Did it cut through denim like it was butter? No, denim is a thick and sturdy fabric, but the cutter did cut through it. It relieved my tired hand and got me through the hardest part of the project.
