Accidentally threw away my bread knife that goes in my block and bought this as a replacement. Fits perfectly and good quality.
Best quality knife
This is a very sharp knife and I really enjoy cutting everything with it. I really mean everything as I use it on all my vegetables , meats , cardboard packages ,strips of leather(for leathercrafts) and apparently bread. It comes with a scabbard as it is highly required to keep injuries down when knife is not in use. Not for the faint of heart as if knife edge comes into contact with your skin there is gonna be bloodshed!!!!
cuttin big loafs of bread for sandwiches or to make English toast you mus have this
This knife cuts bread so good, does not cut it ragged but a nice cut to it.
I needed the 4-1/2 inch knife - the only way to get it was buy the whole set. I would say, compared to my existing - that these are sharp and comfortable. I like a heavy knife. These are not heavy. But they'll get the job done, especially cutting up turnips.
Best think about these knives is the blade shape. A straight cutting edge is far easier to sharpen than a curved one. The steel is medium hardness, so it takes an edge quite easily which is perfect for keeping them sharp. You'll appreciate this because an easy to sharpen knife will not hold an edge as long. You have to keep it sharp, never let it get dull...too hard to bring it back. The reason I took off a star is because they did not arrive as sharp as they should be. The factory hollow ground edge was too shallow and had to be sharpened before use. This is the 2nd time I've bought this same set of knives. The first set lasted about 13 or 14 years.
It doesn't feel as heavy as the original bread knife in the set. I think I should have ordered the longer knife, but this knife works just fine. It was delivered on the day they said it would be delivered.
