Came faster than the site said it would. Easy to install. At first it was just doing a fast flashing red light which the instructions told me something was wrong. When I opened the battery door and looked inside I could tell the green computer/electrical panel had come out of place during shipping. I was able to easily snap it back to where it was supposed to be and it works like a charm. Opens a little later on rainy days as it takes longer for there to be enough light. This makes it so my rooster isn't crowing at 4am, he doesn't crow until the door opens between 6-7am (I am in WA state). You do have to put a cross piece of wood under where you want the door to stop otherwise while you are installing it, the silver pieces will be hard to control.
All the other automatic doors cost twice this amount, so I was happy to find this one. I'm a little concerned that the door is opened by a single string, but I've had no problems yet, so knock on wood!
I use to have to go out early in the mornings and late in the evenings to let our 13 chickens out and in Not no more! The door opens every morning at 6:30 and closes at 8:00pm this of course is central time. Opens and closes with the sun. Love this door!!!
We bought two. One worked perfectly from the start and the other one was such a pain. The parts were unplugged on the inside and in the wrong spots and the wiring loose. Finally after 4 days my husband got it fixed and then it broke loose again after a day. Now its working well. The doors get jammed pretty easy so we check at night often to make sure its shut. Its very nice to not have to worry all the time if they chickens are safe but you definitely got to keep a eye on it off and on. My one major complaint is that a raccoon or opossum could easily easily raise the door up if they wanted to. We are going to try to put a board over the bottom to prevent their hands from being able to reach the bottom of the door and pull it up.
I tried rhis and our coop sits in a wood line so it is shaded. Needs to have a good sourse of sunlight to work.
.Cut hole in chicken coop and set up according to directions. Opener keeps flashing red to indicate batteries low or door jammed. Changed batteries and door is free to move up and down. Opener doesn't even attempt to try and lower. Just ordered another one to see if I just received a dud. Not much else I can do since I have a hole cut now! Very frustrated!
We set ours up and it's not working. It suggested to put new batteries in And we did and still not working.
First one arrived broken so we had to exchange it. The second one was rattling inside again but seemed working ok, well, until attached to coop and door. It wasn't able to lift a door even half the weight promoted. We had to adjust our whole coop with a new door, this time super light aluminum. The opener still didn't function currently, kept sucking up the string even with the door on, just wouldn't stop. We messed with it for weeks and hours again and again until we got so sick of it that we returned it after all
