Good texture and flavor

Phyllis February 17, 2026

These mushrooms smell odd, but have a good mushroom flavor. I tried them dried, (was thinking maybe they'd be a good addition to a salad or similar dish) and they are edible but not delicious. They are much better when reconstituted with some warm or hot water. They are in a large clump in the bag, so plan to take out a bunch, then return the ones you're not using to the resealable bag. Overall, I am happy with these. They add a different taste element to my food than I am used to having.

Perfect Mushroom Flavor

Catt February 28, 2026

First, I loved the resealable packaging, since we didn't use them all at once. Next-- They plumped up quickly. Have a nice, earthy scent. Taste: Delicious enoki mushrooms in our homemade ramen soup! Just what it needed. Not stringy or rubbery. Definitely a product to purchase again.

Unique Asian style ingredient

James February 27, 2026

Many of us live where there is no access to fresh Asian vegetables. This is a way to enjoy the enoki experience when no fresh ones are available. Because these are dried and compressed a bit there are many servings in one small pouch. I tested their flavor and cooking qualities by simmering a few in 2 ounces of water with a little soy sauce for two minutes. They hold together well and have a sort of crunchy chew that no other mushroom can offer. The flavor is not strong but it is unique to enokis. Now I have mushrooms for ramen available for times when I have run out of fresh ones.

Tasty

Lindsey March 6, 2026

Great taste, added a ton of umami to my ramen. Texture wasn't exactly as I wanted but taste was phenomenal. I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions in this review are mine solely and are unbiased and honest as possible.

Definitely Try

Daniel February 11, 2026

I don't much care for mushrooms, but she's a big fan, so I cook them for her from time to time. These caught my eye as an easy way to step up soups and the like for her, using just one recipe and adding these to her bowl. We were intrigued when we got the package: had not seen this type of fungus before. Opening the pouch was interesting: we both agreed it was like walking into a feed store and getting that immediate aroma of dried alfalfa. (That's not a bad thing.) So I snaked out a few strands to munch on and they were really quite tasty: a sort of sweet nutty flavor, like an almond paste, `though not as sweet. Used in a packaged ramen (Maruchan chicken), the flavor packet drowned out the subtle flavor of these shrooms. Our next attempt will be in a miso soup where I think these will stand out. Looking forward to that. Anyway, these were a pleasant surprise, and I'm finally appreciating mushrooms.

enoki

Everyone knows whether or not they like mushrooms, so this review is for mushroom enjoyers only. These are awesome. Easiest way to level up ramen and you can get creative with them too.

Dynamic lingering nuances of flavor with 2 issues

Nietzsche February 27, 2026

Flavor was outstanding, especially straight from package. They are a more mild flavor that also helps to enhance a broth's depth, but the stronger the broth the more their nuances and flavor disappears. I love the depth of flavor as well as the umami and fantastic nuances that it brings. I can literally sack on just a few and enjoy the lingering taste for a remarkably long while. However, even though that taste is lingering, it is also mild. It will get lost in strong ramen broths. Though it will help layer a stronger broth, it will not shine the same way it does in a more mild one. I try not to ding items stars do to my failure in expectations. However, I did take 1 star from the two issues, as issue 2 is very pronounced if unexpected. Issue 1: It is only an annoyance and no big deal. You need to pull all of it out of the package to pull off what you want to use from the side. The solution is to repackage it into a storage bag so you don't have to pull it all the way out each time. Issue 2: I actually looked this one up to see if my expectation was unfair. It seems that it was, but it is so pronounced, that I am inc luding it anyway. These mushrooms are not quite as bad dry. However, once hydrated in my ramen, they become extremely fibrous, stringy and chewy. They frequently got caught in my teeth. This is a common issue with dried Enoki that would be expected from somebody used to them. I was not. Although it is something I can deal with, it was not something I liked. My research stated the even tougher clumped-together base of the stems should be cut off and discarded. However, I didn't really notice it being all that much worst than the stems, so I guess that is a matter of choice.

Ramen Essential if you like Mushrooms

Joey February 12, 2026

This is a great product and has good taste It only loses a single star for having excessive substrate on the mushrooms to be trimmed off. It only takes a second though and is still amazing. This is a ramen essential if you like mushrooms (I do). It has a mild mushroom flavor that doesn't overpower food but compliments it. This would be good in stir fry, ramen, rice or a casserole.
