Cholula Hot Salsa is one of my favorites because it's spicy enough to wake up a meal without burning your taste buds off. The chili heat is steady but smooth, and the tomato and spice mix gives it this tangy depth that makes everything taste better. I'll throw it on tacos, eggs, or even just dip chips in it. It's not the hottest salsa out there, but that's exactly why I love it; it adds flavor and kick without being over the top.
I tried this both on tortilla chips as a stand-alone chip dip and in a few different formats as an ingredient (on tacos, in burritos). Overall, great flavor, punchy heat, and a pleasing texture, but maybe for heat lovers only if you want to use it as a dip. Texture: not too thin, no weird huge chunks either. Medium thickness and fairly uniform, which is what I find ideal compared to big hunks in a watery base. Heat: if you're going to eat this by itself, expect it to be pretty hot. Nice flavor, but it gets powerfully spicy after a few bites. As a topping or inclusion, though, you get a really nice warmth. Flavor: balanced tomato, acidity, and spices, with plenty of warmth/heat from the peppers. Container size: smaller than average, maybe 12oz instead of the typical 16oz. Take note if you're buying to use a certain amount in a recipe. Apart from container size, it checks all the right boxes for me as a topping/ingredient salsa.
The Cholula® Original Hot Salsa is very tasty! The spice is just right and the flavor is delicious! The salsa is just right for tacos or even tortilla chips. The salsa goes with eggs in the morning to tacos at night. Very versatile. My new favorite salsa topping!
If you're like me & put hot sauce on everything, this is the salsa for you. This is the perfect salsa not only for dipping chips, but I've also put this on tacos, burritos, and eggs for an extra kick of flavor and texture. The texture isn't too chunky or watery. While the flavor is definitely there, it isn't too overpowering. Highly recommend giving this one a try.
I love a good spicy salsa and this one hit the mark. It has a nice spice level, were you can definitely taste it but it doesn't take away from the food. Ive had this with chips, tacos, on pretty much anything. Will definitely purchase in the near future.
Our household is a mix of meat eaters and vegans, and this salsa was a hit with everyone! The flavor is rich and balanced, with just the right amount of heat—enough kick to make it exciting but not overpowering. I also appreciate that it's not too vinegary, so you really get to taste the spices. We tried it chilled with chips and again on tacos another night, and it was delicious both ways. Definitely recommend
Loved the consistency and did find it quite tasty. Personally, I found it a bit too hot but the friends I shared it with did really enjoy it. Would recommend overall. If you are not someone who can easily tolerate heat, I would not recommend it, but eager to try the other flavors at some point.
This salsa does indeed deliver on its promise of heat! It has a nice kick to it but nothing that's overpowering or overwhelming, much like the original Cholua hot salsa, making it versatile for a variety of dishes and palates. That's exactly how I prefer it too - used as a condiment or mixed into a dish rather than as a dip for chips. It has a nice consistency too - not too thin and not too chunky!
This had a lot more heat than I was expecting, but in a good way. the flavor was good and when you put it on some salty tortilla chips, it all came together really well.
It is hot but I'm not a fan of the flavor. Many others are better.
