This Cholula Salsa Verde is the %231 Salsa now in our home. We could not believe the flavor, not to hot just right. We put this Salsa Verde on almost everything we eat.Are table hot item has always been Tabasco both Red Green %26 now it is Cholula Salsa Verde.
I have always bought Herdez salsa Verde mild. Am glad I tried this. Superior in flavor. I'm a spice wimp, it's spicier, so mixed with sour cream, excellent. Will continue to purchase.
I do not have the experience of living with Latin culture but I do use the salsa verde because it is mild with a touch of sweetness and easy on my stomach compared to red salsas. I like to mix this in my fresh made guacamole and use it on tacos, tostadas or burritos. Nice for dipping nachos in too. Oh, and for a great topping on vegetable omelets. When I opened this jar the thickness and freshness was obvious. This is the only one I like more than Herradura brand which is thinner. It has a use by date 2 years away. Cholula is made in Mexico but owned by McCormick.
This is a really tasty salsa. I love it with just chips or on any Mexican dish. But the label for spiciness is incorrect. It is labeled as mild, but I would say it's more medium.
I am in love with this green salsa. I made some grilled chicken thighs and poured this salsa on top A bed of white rice underneath it with a bit of butter. I was extremely delighted on how well it coated the chicken and mixed perfectly together with the rice.
Overall, the salsa verde was nice and mild with a medium tang and citrus notes. The texture of the salsa was slightly chunky with a noticeable mouth feel of the tomatillos, specifically the seeds and chunks of tomatillos. Additionally, this salsa verde err on the side of being more liquid as a salsa than a thicker one which I'd prefer more of. This would go great on tacos, burritos, or anything savory!
I got this product for free in exchange for my honest review. And to be honest, it's pretty good! If you really enjoy SUPER spicy foods, this might not be for you. it is a mild salsa so it's not spicy at all, but the taste is actually really good! I really love green salsas so I would buy this again if I needed it for an emergency or was craving one and didn't have the time to make one at home
This salsa was just okay. It wasn't great but it wasn't terrible. The taste was very processed versus fresh and there was an unusual aftertaste. If I weren't simply sampling it, I think I would brighten it up with lime juice. If this was the salsa I had on hand I would use it, but it's not one that I would actively seek out.
I love the Choula brand. It is the only type of hot sauce I buy. So when I saw they were offering a salsa Verde I was very excited to try. I used this product on a variety of foods including nachos, taquitos, Burritos, and chimichangas. I was overall disappointed in the flavor. It didn't contain the same type of zest I am used to with chaloua products (or even other salsa Verde products from different brands). Overall, If I am look for a flavorful, zesty salsa Verde, I will probably look elsewhere.
This is the 2nd jar of Cholula salsa verde that I've purchased. I found mold growing in my first jar after it had been open for a week or so. I thought it was a fluke and ordered another jar because I liked the flavor. Unfortunately the 2nd jar that I purchased upon opening, also had mold growing inside. It was a brand new jar, never opened! I don't think a 3rd time will be a charm or a possibility.
