Awesome!! This is fantastic. I have an AOC smart tv only and I wanted to watch prime video and use Spotify so.. I tried with normal Chromecast 3rd generation (basic) but I had issues since I wanted a control. So, now with this one is perfect! This converts your basic smart tv to Android TV 💯
Really simple install of the device. The device connects to the TV via HDMI and receives power via an included USB-C and small wall plug. You have to download the Google Home app and follow the prompts in your Google Home app and on the TV. The device auto configured the remote to work with my TV so I can turn it on and off and volume up and down. Whole setup took about 5 minutes. My only complaint is that the Google Play app store does not include Xfinity Stream - not an issue with the device itself, but an issue with Xfinity not providing the app. Plex works well and am able to connect to my locally hosted server without issue. All in all - very simple install and good quality for the price.
WOW. Don't even need the remote for tv! Don't need to switch between apps. This chromecast does it all. automatically sets itself up and adds all your apps.
I love it! It's real game changer. I've used my Fire Tv system for 3 years and it started to glitch up on me and I decided to get something new. With this, I was able to be connected to all of my Google services and it runs smoothly. I highly recommend you get this.
I like that I can quickly access my favorite apps for movies and music. It is great for the price and like ROKU I can have many accounts. My dislikes are that: 1) I can't remove apps that I don't use like Netflix and others. Or at least move them to another area from the home screen. 2) The remote won't operate the volume keys if more than one account on your Google Chromecast.
So I havent plugged this one in yet. We already have one in our main TV in living room. While its no Comcast...it does the job! Now listen its google, google dominates EVERYTHING!!!! With this being said, with YouTube tv we surprisingly get many channels and a great DVR. Also, you get to have apps and regul YouTube so there are these perks IF THIS IS YOUR THING! What I dont like is all the YT videos that we watch dont get shown on my account and I'm planning on starting a channel. So, I wont get that credit which is important for started a channel. In the community i live in actually doesn't have cable!!! So we have to stream or have the Dish...and this is far better than the Dish! Our other problem and this affects our streaming and this is because of our community, is our internet, at current moment is 3mbps for ENTIRE community!! So lets say at 7:30pm when wheel comes on and we're streaming something this can be challeng with this Chromecast. Like I said this isnt Comcast but its been working for us for us forn2 yrs now. We bought this extra one for our guest bedroom, we'd been wanting an xtra one but for a long time they were expensive and now to pay under $20 we pulled the trigger and bought one! SO FOLKS RIGHT NOW IS THE TIME TO BUY ONE IF YOU DO! p.s piks are gonna be new one and one we've been using and how it lokks with the tv and streaming
We have been using Rokus to stream for years but found them to be lacking in a few areas and decided to give Chromecast a try. We found this device to be very non-intuitive to use as compared to our Roku devices. The start screen is crowded with what can only be described as advertisements for content from service providers. The Google TV interface is, apparently, an effort to consolidate all of your current subscriptions into a single jumping off point, but all it does is create a mess. All we wanted to see on the screen is icons for the apps that we wanted to install such as Hulu, Disney , ESPN , etc., and we were hoping that the Chromecast versions of some of our apps would be better than the Roku versions. They were not. In fact, Chromecast didn't even have versions for some of our Roku apps. In many cases, Google searches revealed that we are expected to stream content from our desktop computers and/or smartphones to the Chromecast device in order to access it. With great difficulty, we found and implemented workarounds for most of these limitations (such as using the buggy web browsers available for Chromecast to access the content,) but it was complex and time consuming, and I doubt we could have accomplished it without expertise in computers that most people lack. The moral of the story is, if you are using Rokus or any other devices and are familiar and comfortable with how they work, you will have a large learning curve if you try to switch to Chromecast. At least we did, and we found no obvious advantages that made it worth the trouble.
First the bad news. Had to completely reset device and start over after I set everything up. Google tried to verify my account and I entered my password 2 dozen times. Wasting 3 hours of my life setting everything up again. The notification on may phone to click yes just kept spinning. I was an early adopter of chromecast and have numerous Roku's. I thought I would give this another chance. The interface is way better then I remember and the Live Channels when paired with free Pluto TV gives you over 600 channels which is crazy cool! All in all it is nice when it works, if It fails me again I am going to put a hammer to it.
i went thru 2 remotes in 6 month period. they just quit working. i have to now use Google on my phone to use remote instead of actual remote, completely fine with that.
This product never really worked properly in my house. Only occasionally picked up the wifi , only 2 meters away. Searched through endless help pages but never Solved the issue. Occasionally has allowed me to miracast with my phone but won't do that now.
