When buying this cut of beef it's a toss up. Sometimes you end up with more fat than you wanted and other times you end up with decent fat to meat marbling. I tend to use this cut for beef stir fry because it's cheaper to cut the beef myself then pay more for less meat that's precut.
I am continually disappointed in the price gouging that is going on with meats. It is obscene. As for the taste, texture and final product? Excellent choice. I seared the meat on high heat in a pan, with coconut oil, on both sides and all edges. Then I put it in the crock pot with potatoes, carrots, other veggies, seasonings and just covered all with beef bouillon. Cooked on low all day. 1½ hrs before dinner, take 2 cups of the liquid from the crock, ½ cup heavy whipping cream (½ %26 ½ or milk will do) and 2 TBLS cornstarch, salt and pepper- use a fork or whisk and blend thoroughly until there's no lumps. Add to Crock Pot and cook for 1½ hours or until thickened to desired amount. serve. The steak will fall apart. This cut of meat is perfect for this meat. i highly recommend it.
I was shocked when I saw it. It was a little small but perfect for 3 people. It was very tender and juicy, just enough fat without it being loaded and paying an arm and a leg for fat and not meat. Great price compared to other roasts I've looked at and worth every penny. I highly recommend and advise everyone to stock up while you can because they run out of stock quickly.
Hey, Beef prices are up. I get it. Wow! Chuck Roast prices are up! Yes they are... This was a high quality beef, with a low fat ratio. it gave me 6 full meal servings. And 4 leftovers. this includes veggies and starch in the meals. it's a great deal that I continue to purchase.
I took a chance on this roast in a recent pickup order. It was a great size for 2 w/leftovers or 4 for the meal. The meat did NOT shrink up and was tender and delicious. I cooked it on low with potatoes, carrots %26 onions in my crock pot for 6-7 hours.
This roast is the perfect choice when made in a slow cooker. It made my nieghbors in my apartment building come knocking on my door! I put it in my crockpot on High with quartered potatoes, fresh carrots, and 1 pkg Great Value dry onion soup mix and then a lg can of Great Value cream of mushroom soup spread over the top. Optional- 30 minutes before serving I add 8-16 ounces fresh/washed mushrooms because I love them.
😊👍I cut this up into cubes and put them in a glass bowl and made a dry marinade mixed it up well to make sure that each piece was covered and froze them in freezer bags to use for smaller meals or to make savory dishes with.! Great quality and price.!! 👍😊
usually this is my GO-TO But this last time it was alot more fatty and chewey. Idk if was just a bad piece of roast but every other time this is excellent!!!! super tender! melts in your mouth and full of flavor!! I like to brine in butter and then put in oven with potatoes, carrots, onions, garlic and all my delicious spices! although fiod is getting harder and harder to afford!
The roast was good, except for all of the fat. i didn't shop for it... if i had, it would have been less fatty. As far as price goes, like everything else, it was way overpriced. I use to buy a roast quite often, but now I'm lucky if I get one once every couple of months.
Buyer beware! Not the freshest and it tasted gamey like venison sometimes does! So my entire pot roast dish was gamey! Thank God I didn't have guests! For the high cost of beef since the pandemic, at least we should be getting high quality beef, and this ain't it. Sorry. I will be requesting another refund! All that Black Angus premium choice beef and stuff on label apparently doesn't mean anything anymore, at least at Walmart. Sad and frustrating. I have the inconvenience now of having to go somewhere else for my beef. I am not well, it's hard that's why I got Walmart delivery! I'm thinking of dropping Walmart Plus and picking up Amazon Fresh. And after setting up all my subscriptions etc ugh. The prepackage Marketside organic grass fed ground beef is good but Walmart's hand cut %26 chosen butcher cut fresh beef on the shelf experience, terrible. Low standards, same as my organic chuck roast experience before, high price low quality. I mean like over $22 %26 all the fat was tough and grisley, couldn't chew even the meat. These roasts were barely 2lbs. I demanded refund. Walmart should be ashamed selling such low quality high priced beef. Unacceptable
