I finally got my hands on the Ideal Electrical SureTrace Circuit Tracer, and let’s just say it’s living up to the hype (and that 2025 Popular Mechanics "Best Hand Tools" award). The standout feature is definitely the CertainCircuit technology. It actually indicates when the circuit has been de-energized right at the receiver. It turns what used to be a two-person guessing game into a confident, one-person job. No more "trial and error" with the wrong breakers. It’s backlit and super easy to read in dark crawlspaces or utility closets. It’s got a 6.6-foot drop protection. It helped me to identified which wires and conector where not working properly without having to guess or test everything manually. He is an electrician at a large medical facility and has need for a tool like this. Put simply, this tool helps trace an outlet, switch, wire, etc. to the specific line or breaker in an electrical panel. A godsend for those homeowners with poorly labeled panels or breaker boxes. He loved the sensitivity setting which allowed him to determine which panel he needed, then adjust the sensitivity to locate the exact breaker he needed. This saved a ton of time but most importantly kept him safe! All the pieces store neatly in a small zippered case with handle. This is small enough to fit in a desk drawer or to be carried in a toolbox. He loves it.
