works good, cuts time

Elizabeth September 19, 2025

Product works as described. In most cases it bubbles and glides off. We had some smaller areas that were more stubborn and needed a second application. Made these tasks so much easier. I used it to remove old paint to reveal the wood on some items and to repaint a door %26 wall in a lighter color in an older home we purchased. After using plastic putty knife to scrape off onto plastic sheet on floor I followed up with damp rags/sponges with some dawn dish soap to get more off. For items with crevices a light abrasive sponge helps too. The product smell is not bad but you still should open window, doors, etc.

Fast acting!

PJ May 30, 2025

Fast! I was going to use my random orbital sander and didn't like the thought of breathing in dust particles from lead based paint 🤭 I've never used any type of stripper before and I'm going to be buying more! It's on sale at the moment, so go get you some! Smells great and works fast, the pics were taken ten minutes after application

WONDERFUL PRODUCT! SMELLS GREAT!

Doris March 12, 2025

THIS PRODUCT IS AMAZING! LOVE THE SMELL!!! IT'S LIKE ORANGES. IT'S EASY TO USE. I GOT IT TO REMOVE THE PAINT THAT SOMEONE PAINTED THE SHOWER TILES. WHY THEY DID IT IS BEYOUND MY KNOWLEDGE. BUT THIS IS TAKING IT OFF. WITH SOME WORK. JUST MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A FAN ON. IT SMELL GREAT BUT IT' IS A CHEMICAL AFTER ALL. BE SAFE NOT SORRY! IT GOES ON GREAT AND ITS EASY TO CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR DONE. I HAVE GONE THROUGH 2 OF THE 64 OZ SIZE THERE IS A LOT OF PAINTED TILES IN THIS SHOWER. IT'S A GREAT PRODUCT AND IT WORKS!!! EASY TO PUT IT ON IT STAYS WHERE YOU PUT IT!

Works well. But read review.

anonymous March 18, 2025

This is not fast acting on several layers of paint. The project I worked on required 3 applications, leaving it on for 24 hours scrapping and reapplying. I used a soft scrub brush after the 3rd day. All the paint came off easily. The smell wasn't bad but I'd suggest some ventilation. Make sure to leave a thick coat of this stuff on. Wear gloves and old clothes. It's pretty easy to use and clean up is easy.

It actually works!

Heather July 20, 2024

I fought with the wooden trim being covered in white paint for more time than I care to admit. It was my mistake for getting oil-based paint. I applied this to the wooden trim and let it soak for an hour. The paint easily came off and I'm mad that I did not try this sooner. Absolutely worth every dollar.

My go-to when I need to strip the finish off wood.

Anita March 16, 2025

I use Citristrip every time I need to refinish a piece of furniture. It doesn't harm the wood and I don't have to sand. . Love, love this stripper.

Very good product and a lot of work

JJofIN September 25, 2025

This review is for anyone using this product on concrete (such as a basement floor) %231: use a respirator with this product if applying indoors - no matter the ventilation - because it is extremely smelly (bottle indicates "up to 50% VOCs"); %232: the longer it sits, the more layers of paint it removes (cover with plastic if you plan to let it sit for longer than a few hours as it will dry out and become less effective at dissolving through the layers); %233: to prevent from drying out and despite the intense chemical smell, think about refraining from ventilating with fans as this might dry it out too soon (maybe turn on fans when your are ready to scrape); %234: after scraping, you'll need to clean up Citristrip's oily residue (I actually do two washes: one with a TSP mixture, a strong bristle or wire brush, and a thick sponge and the second with 1:1 mixture of vinegar and water and a thick sponge); %235: continue with fan ventilation for a few more hours afterwards (the chemical smell slowly dissipates and I'll even spray some room deodorizer in the air over the area the next day)

The stuff is decent. you've got to be careful though. I've used it on several projects over the years. The label claims it's safe to use inside, but I wouldn't,because you really shouldn't,you will regret it. Also as far as allowing it to sit for 24 hours if you cover in Saran wrap, I'm not saying it won't work but it's probably going to be really caked on their bad by the time you get back even if you do your best to pack it on thick and really cover it with that Saran wrap. so I suggest you don't take that suggestion to leave it 24 hours. rather do small sections at a time. usually 15 to 30 minutes is plenty to get stuff to come up. I really didn't like this to remove varnish. It's better for paint. It's great for paint in fact but I got something else to do my chairs because this just wasn't working hard enough for me on it. This works great for most people doing a small paint removal project. I like having it around for random removal issues also. Make sure you wear gloves %26 a mask. oh and always be sure to dry out all your rags afterwards before you throw them out. if you just throw them away immediately while they're wet you could start a fire. Make sure you read the whole label. have a nice day

Started strong but couldn't complete.

Looked like it was going to work but treated surface several times and still had to use wire wheel and sandpaper on about 1/3 of the surface.
