This is exactly what I needed! I have a path I've needed to dig out to either have a trench for water flow or to put in a pipe for water drainage down a hill. This thing is heavy duty enough that it is handling the job. The teeth on the end are strong and sharp and can get through the thick clay ground we have here in South Carolina. I'm really glad it was shipped with a guard over that part, it's almost scary. It's heavy but not too heavy - the right weight to help with the job, not hinder. The handle is nice, it's hard but feels better than plain metal. The size of it is perfect for me, if you're really tall it might be short. I will also be using it to install a border around my driveway and know it's going to take so much effort off of that project. Great product!
I was looking for something like this to fix up a rather large, raised garden area where the dirt has been shifting down into the grass since we tried to switch out the cinder block wall. Tools I found at the local stores seemed pretty flimsy, but this is strong and thick as heck, AND I can just stomp down into the ground with my foot. It is EXACTLY what I have been seeking but didn't have a name for. We're finally getting the project done in no time.
This solid ground edger is extremely well made. My yard needed this product years ago! It did a beautiful job edging areas where grass and weeds were always growing from my grassy area onto my cement patio spaces. Now everything looks neat and decided as it should. It's effortlessly easy to use and gets the job done. I'm female 67 and got it all done in less than an hour. Although I must add that It's a bit on the heavy side It's also very user friendly and comes with a safety cover for the sharp tooth edge. it's worth the money!
The assembly was simple when I saw the pictures with all the screws holding blade I assumed that was part of assembly. The only required assembly turns out to be the Extension pole and the handle. Total assembly time was about 15 minutes. The screws for blade part is so you can replace blade in the future. Nice bonus there. Then I took it to back yard and was edging in TN clay dirt during hot August summer day. Even with dry compacted ground it was smooth to push in unless I hit rock under the ground, then I used breaker bar to split rock and continued on. After job done put the rubber blade cover back on and stored it in garage for next use.
It was easy to assemble, tool seems sturdy, has a cover over the cutting blade at the bottom of the tool, slices through the grass well with you foot pressure.
This edger is doing the job on my heavy black clay, giving me a trench to install heavy duty metal landscape edging. Edger feels sturdy and the wide footbed is helpful. Would have been 5 stars if the handle was a few inches taller, a bit tough on my back leaning over.
The edger worked fine but I wish there was an option to buy additional blades through the Walmart website as well.
It is still winter in Michigan. Have it assembled and ready to go when ground thaws. Only issue is the handle is in 3 pieces rather than 1. Allows for variable length and storage, but the fittings are loose even with bolts tightened as much as possible I applied some duct tape to the smaller diameter parts of handle the holes for bolts, and it seems for now to be as stable as a full length handle. Still have to try outside to know if that solves the iddue
Even after really tightening the handle bolts the handle is wobbly, loosening as you use it as well. I've used a solid handle edging tool that works better. Will be borrowing my son-in-laws solid wooden handle edger.
The screws are constantly coming loosen. The handle, even when the screws are tight is super wiggly. Would not suggest this purchase and wish I could return it.
