The lock works great. I have gotten other diaries where you can just pop the lock open and it stops staying closed after awhile. This one doesnt do that and is great for kids who love having a lock on their diary.

Super cute and large diary
Got this for our daughter for Christmas. She loves it. Super cute and soft and has lots of details. It's large has lots of pages. It's plush and good quality.

Cuter than the Photo
I prefer tamper-proof packaging or a slip-off cover, because the "fur" is difficult to clean or launder and child may want to keep this forever, but I appreciated that there is a safety seal on the lock. The book is much cuter than it appears in the photo, because the coffee cup part is puffy. It says "tweens diary", but I would remove the the lock and gift it to kids 6 and over without the lock.
