I purchased this phone for my 91 yr. old dad, and it was a breeze to set up. He's very happy with the improved sound of the phone, and he was able to start using it in a very short time. I read the reviews, which were all very specific and positive, and that's why I purchased this product.
This is a very good amplified, hearing aid compatible, cordless phone. It has large, lighted buttons, large easy to read caller ID, and adequate amplification. I use it with my hearing aids and it is compatible with them, causing no buzzing or interference and amplifies loudly enough that I can easily carry on a conversation. At the time I purchased it Walmart did not offer extension handsets at the store near me or online but they can be easily found and ordered elsewhere. By now Walmart may offer them.
This answering machine and phone have a number of nice features. Headphone jack and belt clip for the phone. When you put the phone in the cradle to charge, it beeps if it is placed correctly. The buttons on the answering machine base are large. When you adjust the speaker volume on the answering machine all the way down, it doesn't just go to zero, it tells you the speaker is turned off. All the menu adjustments are run from the phone. My only slight complaint is the speaker on the phone itself is not as clear as I'd like. Otherwise, an excellent answering machine.
This one actually met it advertised expectations...it is truly loud, clear, and easy to use...a great speakerhone with a volume control, trebble setting to allow calls to sound crisp and not muffled, and a boost button, should you need more power. Also, it's heavier than other phones which gives you a feeling whatever is inside is built well...!
This was purchased for Mom who had a stroke, & resulting vascular dementia. She also wears hearing aids. It took a while for her to get used to this, as any new technology, but now she loves it! The screen is large & well lit, number pads are easy to use. We programmed numbers into it, & she had a really hard time understanding that concept, uses it as she always has & dials. She can hear great with this with & without her hearing aids. The biggest problem we have run into is when she finishes a call, she doesn't always hit the red button to hang it up ( if it's sitting by her chair & not put back on the base) Overall, this is a great phone!
The only thing that I would add is texture to the phone - older people with soft hands have a hard time holding onto the outside of the phone when answering/using the phone because of it's shape and slick plastic sides. I put Velcro on the sides of the phone which helped my father in being able to hold onto the phone. The volume control and lightening on the key pad is great.
Good phone-designed to improve seeing the key pad with larger back-lit numbers/letters for visually impaired, and improved hearing with enhanced volume control for louder volume for hearing and speaking, for hearing impaired. Also hearing aid compatible. Only drawback is tendency to unintentionally change volume level with volume control side buttons on handset.
To confusing to program.. second handset would not program to base. I tried several times to re-do. the base and handset are not bulky.. the sound was great for hearing impaired.. Disappointed with the programing.. Returned base and additional handset..
I thought I was buying this thru Walmart. My Father didn't like it, and now I find out I can't return it to Walmart. I have to return it to another Company and they are going to charge me a Restock Fee of 15% + Shipping. If I knew this, I would not have ordered it. It would have been better if I went thru Amazon.
This phone is supposed to be good for the hearing impaired. (I am) However the maximum volume was less than my current cordless. Instrument was independently tested to verify my conclusion. Sound meter displayed NO significant increase in sound volume or quality.
