Clean and Strip XT Disc, 4-1/2 in x 5/8 in-11, Extra Coarse, Silicon Carbide, 13300 rpm, Purple

I used this disk to shape and smooth an epoxy repair of plastic components. It performed very well making the job fast and easy. There was very little wear on the wheel so it is still available for additional jobs. I received the disk in a box of free samples from 3M. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I've used this disc in restoring vintage a American made vises that I restore and sell. It easily removes old paint, and really anything that happens to be in the surface of the vise. I will remove most of the paint with a wire wheel, and then finish up with this. It also does a great job on the “slide”... the part of the vise that covers the screw and guides the moveable jaw through the body of the vise. It will even out and shine up the surface without being too aggressive, not gouging or removing much metal at all.

Wow wow wow. I really don't use strip discs very often because they typically just turn to bits of flying strip disc the first time they touch metal and just do a mediocre job. I used this to clean about a total of 25' of 2.5" square tubing and maybe 10' of other similarly sized steel. I still have pad left and removing mill scale has never been easier. I didn't damage the base metal, so even thin gauge material stays whole, but the scale just flies off with one, maybe two quick passes. The fact that it's a threaded center is just icing on the cake for me, but this thing lasts a shockingly long time, does the job incredibly well and keeps my clumsy self from gouging the base metal like I would with a flap disc or anything else. I'm going to order a whole bunch of these and stop using my flap discs for weld prep. It's rare that a new product comes along that changes my process or habit. Got this in a holiday sample box, wow it removed old paint and oxidation from an axle I was preparing to weld. Did the job on several axles and still has life left

I never doubted the 3m brand, I know they they can be trusted when it comes to any of their products. I absolutely love the new grinding wheels they offer. They last longer and require no tools to mount, just screw on and get to work.

This is an awesome disc. Very pleasantly surprised at how fast and clean it made of my BBQ refurbishment. I especially like how the disc didn't fill or clog. Working on a project and paint prep needs third disc

This is an excellent value. I've used other brands in the past that do not work as quickly or last as long as this one from 3M. Very pleased with the quality.

Product held up, stripped and buffed rust off old axe head I have. Looks like new now!

Works better than expected! Easy to use. Will be purchase product again.

I use these to clean up mill scale on steel parts the are to be welded. I run them on a variable speed grinder on low setting so the pad does not heat up as much.
