This product is actually made to go on over stain.
I've used several different wood sealers, but I keep coming back to Wood Rx. The other sealants were Marine Grade, and swore on the label they were designed to go on wood, but what they don't tell you is it is meant for "Raw" wood and not for stained wood. It is not meant to be sprayed over stained wood and leaves huge puddles or white splotches all over your freshly stained wood. The last sealant I used had tiny lettering stating it is used to spray on wood so it "weathers" naturally. I spent weeks staining my house just so I could go and sand the sealant off. I'm done with those other sealants. Wood Rx is "MADE" to go on over stain...says so right on the can.
