Gold standard for handheld CB radios. To really get the most from this radio, it is essential to upgrade the rubber duck antenna with a 9-52 inch expandable antenna (about $5.00 - $16.00 depending on vendor). Also will benefit by upgrading the roof mount antenna ( $19.00 – $29.00). With these two upgrades, you'll have a best in class set up for CB radios.
Did exactly what I got it for. There was a backup on the interstate during a recent trip and I was able to listen in finding out traff8c was mov8ng in one lane past a car fire. I even had an estimate of how long it would take that was pretty close. It was all thanks to truckers still using CBs in such a situation.
So far so good. I have owned many mounted CB radio's since the CB craze of the 70's. A lot has changed since then. Used for long trips mostly to stay informed. Works great!
Great size & weight to be mobile. Appears to tune in well to each channel with effective squelching. I just may buy another one as a companion for my wife. I'm a loyal Cobra user since 1977. I'm going to check their Ham transceivers as well, just as soon as I get my license.
it got here pretty quick and with no issues. it works great.
Although not cheaply priced for sure., I figured a Cobra portable CB radio would be and added benefit to keeping communication open when off-roading. It works great in less than 100 ft. Pass that it loses complete coverage. I'm better off purchasing a pair of walkie talkie's. Don't waste your money on this. If you want a CB radio for off roading then puchase something else .
Well it'll seem like it'll be okay. It didn't come with batteries so I put regular batteries in it until I can order some rechargeable batteries
Receive having trouble hearing others, didn't have time to test outside antenna yet, you have to give time to test
item will not transmit or receive. Save your box to return, I threw mine away assuming Cobra wouldn't sell junk. I don't have money to waist, this item is awful. False advertised. just static most of the time, range of 100 feet with static
The product review I read said you could talk and transmit up 1 mile of clear reception and I could not barely talk 200 feet away to my trucks with mounted cobra CB's in them, I am very disappointed in this unit. The instructions did help some to that point but very little. I really loved the size of the unit of its compact design and layout. The sound quality would have been better if the reception would have been good.
