i like the sleek design and the way the screen looks when its scanning... the cobra app is cool because you can see all the alerts and cops around u from other cobra detectors. i wouldnt go any lower in model than this cobra. Saved me from getting a couple tickets already....the cost that i could have got for speeding tickets are 3 times the cost of this radar. Very worth it!!!
I like how far the range pick up
I originally purchased, a 480I ended up, returning it very painless other than it cost me 20 bucks. A lot of the newer cars, 2025 accessory outlets do not provide the voltage required. I kept getting low voltage then it would shut down. Also, it has a cigarette adapter. My car does not have a cigarette lighter. Which requires you to have additional expenses at the same time I bought mine. They came out where they 490 Eye that appears to be more functional with the newer cars. I'm no longer getting a low voltage warning. There's much better Radar detectors out there for the sport enthusiast but for everyday driving I think you will be very satisfied. My only request would be if you're coming out with a new model or upgraded model of the previous version at least give us a choice of which one we want, especially with the newer vehicles the 480I was definitely out of date.
The detector is good not really an issue there there are a lot of spectre alerts but besides that the app leaves a lot to be desired it is horrible sometimes it connects but then it always seems to drop always it cycles on my phone and never stops never dont know if that's what it's supposed to do but eliminates the map from working maybe i need a subscription idk
I have to tell you these only come with a 30 day warranty. That is terrible for a name brand. Mine works most of the time but the voice is like a mouth full of marbles. It tends to freeze up and has to be unplugged. It goes off constantly behind certain cars and at business's on the KA police band. It can be turned down on sensitivity though, but who wants that? Good range and ok volume, it is a great $80 or so detector. Too bad it costs $150. I would return it but it's past 30 days so I just won't buy another cobra again.
I bought this to replace my old Uniden. My expectations were very high after reading reviews. Functionally seems to work great. As far as distance it receives the radar is lacking pretty much doesn't go off until right on radar. Example going into a town that uses radar, will not go off until you can see the sign and are only about 50yds out.
I do not like the fact that it picks up every little thing. As many videos that I watched, or social media, with the help of setting this Radar detector Cobra 480 I up. I cannot justify keeping it. I took a 500 mile road trip and I had to turn it off. Sorry Cobra.
Seems to freeze up on th KA Band. It'll alert full bars and never seem to to go away and just stay fully alerted. The only way to get the full bars off is to reset it with a power cycle.
Took on first road trip and detector went off every time a car or truck approached or passed by. Searching the web for why and found this----- Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) and collision avoidance systems: Many modern cars and commercial trucks use radar-based safety features that operate on or near the K-band frequency. When driving on a busy highway, your detector will frequently pick up these signals from other vehicles. Traffic flow sensors: Radar sensors are often mounted on traffic lights and along highways to measure the volume and speed of traffic. These systems can cause short bursts of K-band radar that will trigger your detector. Poor filtering: Inexpensive radar detectors like the Cobra 480i often lack advanced filtering technology to distinguish between genuine police radar and other sources. This makes them more susceptible to false alerts. ***And passed numerous police cars stationed in medians and did not get an alert except once and I was almost right on him. This detector was so annoying I had to keep turning it off. It's being returned tomorrow.
Was returned because signature required and UPS did not fill out delivery notification to identify whom package was from or for so no one knew who needed to go retrieve from UPS prior to being returned
