Compact, Conceptual and Complete. While these are three C's they deserve an A. The products are always gorgeous, useful and with that they are in good taste, pun intended.
This is a manual grinder. No batteries required.
Cole & Mason Oslo Precision+ Salt & Pepper Mill Gift Set
Prefer the push button style to the twist style
This set works well for a fine grind, but both grinders leave a substantial pile of salt and pepper any time you set them down. I often have to clean up after using them which is quite annoying. They are easy to refill which is nice. These were a gift and they work for what we need it for, but based on how much mess they leave behind, I personally would not recommend purchasing.
It's technically accurate, just not ethically honest, to call this an adjustable design. A properly adjustable grinder has clear markings that you turn it to for a repeatable grind size. The Oslo just has you unscrew it more, in exactly the same way you take it apart, so that a lose and floppy build lets larger chunks through. There are no indicators as to grind size. So every time you want to adjust, you guess at a looseness, test, adjust some more, test, adjust some more, test, repeat, eventually get what you want. This makes it useless for quickly varying sizes in the kitchen. Once it is loose and grinding larger, you try tightening to go finer. Only now there are large pieces holding the mechanism apart. So you tighten it down, get large chunks, re tighten, get medium chunks, tighten again and hopefully get fine powder out now the large and medium chunks aren't holding the blades apart. Plus, it's so loose and floppy, on large grinds, that there's no pressure holding the setting in place. Simple use will start turning the setting - so don't expect a consistent grind for any length of time. If you want to have a stylish slimline grinder on a dining table, that stays at roughly one setting and you just tighten or loosen occasionally as it slips, it's decent. If you want a grinder that's actually practically adjustable, for the kitchen or a table where people like variety, this is absolutely not it.
It says adjustable grind but it's not obvious how to do that. Tightening the thing at the top makes it impossible to grind anything. Loosening it lets the assembly come apart. I don't see any other adjustments.
