My husband and I bought these lanterns replace the same ones that finally wore out after seven years of hard almost daily use in camping and lighting up a storage area on the property that has no power running to it. When we are doing fun outdoor activities, they not only light up our tent and picnic table really well, they are also safe to use indoors, as there is no fire danger or harmful fumes. And they are easy on the batteries with both lanterns lasting two weeks of heavy use. If that were not enough, the battery guard feature keeps the batteries from corroading when we do store them. The best part? We can also safely use them in our home during a power outage. Thanks for a good, durable, lantern, Coleman.😃
Please read this if anyone buys this great lantern, this should be in the instructions because it would save A LOT of hassle!!!! When you're putting the batteries in!!!!! MAKE SURE YOU LINE UP THE ROD FROM THE CAP TO THE ROD IN THE LANTERN! GET IN GOOD LIGHT %26 NOTICE ITS IN A TEARDROP SHAPE NOT A CIRCLE!!! MAKE SURE TO LINE THE NOTCH UP! Lol! I didn't notice it at all %26 it got stuck open/shut. Spent forever on it %26 couldn't get it back open to fix it. Finally found a guy on YouTube talking about how everyone has trouble with it for the same reason %26 he ended up just pulling REALLY HARD on it until it opened back up. That's what I did, thought it was going to break but it didn't. Took it to some bright light THEN saw it was a teardrop shape that had to be exactly matched up. After that, easy peasy! Great light! Pass along the knowledge!
I camped with Coleman equipment for years and I found that the two lamps I just purchased were of the same quality of my old Coleman lantern and stove which are still in use regularly 50 years later. Can't beat quality like that.
I can't say enough about these wonderful items. if you're a camper, like to camp out in your backyard at night. Go hiking. these are the best. I'm glad they now use batteries instead of having to rely on USB. they come in several sizes so you'll have to check them out yourself they're the best.
Fun little lantern and it looks like im going to need to buy more as my kids both want one.The battery lock is very handy. The diffused lite core puts out just the right amount of light without being to harsh on the eyes. I also like the rubber gaurd on the handle that keeps it from clacking around. If there is a downside it is that there needs to be a sleeve that can go over the globe when not in use. Other than thst its a great addition to my camping gear at a great price.
This lantern has already been in use for multiple power outages that the PG&E power company initiated because of high winds/red flag wildfire warnings and the Sonoma County Kinkaid fire in End October 2019. My power was out 5 times in 6 weeks. The last time for 5 days straight. This lantern saved my evenings and came shining through each time. Lights up the whole room and I love that in the off position it does not drain the battery. Loved it so much I bought 2 more of this size (one for a friend) and also bought the next size up. Highly recommended. Nice and good quality and sturdy!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Compact and light adjustment settings are great. Has the retro look with the features of LED. Great product.
When putting the batteries in PLEASE notice the rod coming from the battery top & the rod coming from the lantern; I did not & it was a mess!! The rod needs to match up! It is in a TEARDROP SHAPE not a circle so you have to match up the notches or you won't be able to close it or reopen it. I don't know why Coleman doesn't specify this in the instructions. Alot of people have had issues with this. Other than that, this is a Great little lantern. Bought it to use when we lose power.
I would love to give this 5 stars, but can't. Even though the light source is great, the knob to turn it on and off broke the second time I used it. I truly expected this to last a heck of a lot longer than it did. Don't know if I can get replacement parts for this or not, but being that it is brand new I shouldn't have to worry about something like this. Really disappointed!
Almost impossible to screw cap onto the bottom once batteries are loaded. Cap is not aligned properly . Together with a male friend who is an experienced camper, we struggled for almost 2 hours to screw the thing shut securely, but cap is loose and keeps spinning around. Also plastic encasing light is incredibly cheap and flimsy.
