My son wants to brush his teeth all day

LeHale October 18, 2015

I adore anything with Minions because my four-year-old son loves them so much. It is great that those little yellow characters are on everything now. My son's little face lit up when he saw the Minions toothpaste and toothbrush! The toothbrush has a simple pattern, mostly yellow with stripes of darker golden yellow, with a band of white and pastel bubbles. There is a cute little happy looking minion featured towards the bottom. Underneath the character, the word "Colgate" is printed. The toothbrush takes two AAA batteries, and it comes with them already installed. Since they are standard batteries, they can be replaced by removing the base. A tiny screw securely holds the base in places, so a phillips screwdriver is required. The battery life is pretty good. So far, I have not needed to replace the batteries. My son loves to brush his teeth, but his is terrified of that "loud thing" that the dentist uses to clean teeth. So, I wasn't sure he would be too into the idea of an electric toothbrush. I got the chance to review this product for free, so I figured I would find out. He loved the toothbrush before I turned it on, but after I turned it on, he actually loved it even more! The only problem is that he wants to brush his teeth all the time. He even tried to smuggle the toothbrush out of the bathroom.

Fun and appealing way to get kids to brush!

Semperfimommy2014 October 9, 2015

The Colgate Minion powered toothbrush is a great buy! My seven year old son loves it and it makes brushing fun for him! I love the fact that it comes with batteries already installed; on the other hand, battery operated anything in our house does not last very long. Unless it is AA OR AAA, we rarely replace them. Thankfully, they will probably last as long as the toothbrush does until it is worn out and it does have two AAA batteries. It has extra soft bristles so it is good on his gums that have lost their baby teeth and making way for his adult ones. I try to make him take care of his teeth and make it fun, so he does not mind brushing them with the fun minion decal. He even loves pushing the button to turn the vibration on for power cleaning, so he thinks. The yellow color is vibrant and my son calls it "banana yellow" which coincides with the Minions banana song. It does the trick of getting his teeth cleaned and making a kid want to brush! It is also nice that it lays flat so kids can put toothpaste on it without having to chase it around or have toothpaste fall off. He said he would tell his friends about it and they probably would be influenced by him having one. I would definitely buy it myself and recommend to others.

MINIONS MOTIVATOR

UNCHARTED123 October 13, 2015

I like most parents deal with the challenge of getting my child to brush his teeth. My son loved the Minions movie, and this was a great motivator having his own Minions toothbrush. The battery powered toothbrushes are all basically the same as far as grip, and power, but what separates this one is the association with the movie. My little boy loves it and actually lets me know he needs to brush his teeth. Thank you Colgate for making this parents life a little easier. I waited a couple weeks to see if the excitement of the new toothbrush would wear off and I am so very happy to report it has not.

Gave this to my Grandson because he spends so much time here... Awesome! No problem getting him to brush his teeth now! Hopefully he won't be brushing them all day! :) I will most likely have to buy more for the rest of my Grandkids!!! Well built, works great! And who doesn't like Minions!!! Highly recommend to anyone wanting to get their kids to brush more often!

Cute starter brush for children

bp717 October 6, 2015

I got this for my Granddaughter who doesn't really like to brush her teeth so thought since she liked the minions it might help her like it more, the first day she got it she brushed her teeth 3 times lol and after that she wanted to do it because the brushes tickled her teeth. So far she likes it a lot and is brushing more, the brush head are small and fits a child's mouth nicely, the on and off switch is easy enough for a child to use my granddaughter is 3 years old and doesn't have any problem turning on or off. The body of the tooth brush is a good size for a child to hold and I like that it has a flat bottom so it can stand up by it self. I'm not sure if the Colgate Kids Minions Battery Powered Toothbrush is going to clean deep enough to remove all the germs because the head doesn't spin it just kind of vibrates , but I'm just glad to see her using anything and eventually we can upgrade to a rotating head brush for a deeper cleaning, but hey it's a start to cavity free teeth. So my granddaughter really likes it so anything to get her to brush is a very good thing.

Minions make brushing fun!

felipa16 October 6, 2015

My kids love the battery powered kids' toothbrushes because they not only makes brushing fun, they make it faster and easier! The Colgate Kids' Minions Battery Powered Toothbrush certainly achieves these goals as well! Whether it is superheroes, cartoon characters, or another beloved personality, a themed toothbrush creates excitement for an otherwise mundane task. And in my house, whatever will encourage my kids to have responsible behavior is a winner with me. The only issue we had with our toothbrush was that the batteries needed to be changed. My son said the spin action was rather weak directly out of the package. It requires 2 AAA batteries, which luckily we had on hand. Opening the battery compartment is a bit tricky as the screw holding it shut is super tiny. Once the batteries were changed, my son was impressed with its performance, so I feel confident it should last the dentist recommended three months. I personally would like to suggest that the manufacturers create a timer for these brushes. At least a 1 minute timer would help my kids to know how long they have brushed, and usually they don't brush quite long enough--even with all the fun characters smiling at them. Overall, though, I am grateful that tooth brushing time has become a fun part of our routine, and not a laborious chore like when I was a kid. This toothbrush is not recommended for children under 3 years old.

Colgate Kids Minions battery powered toothbrush

AudreyLK October 17, 2015

Colgate Kids Minions Battery Powered Toothbrush Thank goodness the movie Despicable Me came out as an alternative to all the "Girl's should learn to obey" princess movies. Then again I am much less likely to succumb to a princess toothbrush for my little girl therefore keeping more character items out of the house. Little one loves the minion toothbrush, a smooth barreled affair with a spinning head that is so loud I mistook it for my husband's beard trimmer when I heard it from another room for the first time. Hilarious soundtrack plays as I run into bathroom alarmed to check. Beyond the loud motor this is a nice enough beginner electric toothbrush model, with careful supervision it does a great job of removing even red juice stains from teeth. If alternate bristle toughness becomes available I would definitely spring for softer bristles for young gums and teeth and stock up on batteries to keep a young girl in Minion happyland.

My son loves it!

MnM20072010 October 2, 2015

I ordered this toothbrush for my 5-year-old son, who loves the Minions but doesn't really care for brushing his teeth. It's a great way to get kids interested in brushing their teeth because it makes it fun for them. We've used ours for about a week, and I would suggest putting new batteries in (2 AAA) when you first use it, because the ones included with the toothbrush don't last very long. One thing I will mention about this toothbrush (and why I gave it 4 stars) is that it does not have a removable brush head. It seems like a lot of waste throwing out this brush and replacing it after a few months of use. Overall though, these are well made toothbrushes from a well-known brand, and I feel confident they help keep my son's teeth healthy.

Like the concept, but improvements are needed

SSSandANS October 5, 2015

The Colgate Kids Minions Battery Powered Toothbrush arrived and my son couldn't wait to brush his teeth. Since I typically have to beg my kids to brush their teeth, supervise them to make sure they are actually brushing, or threaten consequences if they don't brush, it was a relief that one of them was excited to brush his teeth. My son who used this toothbrush is 8 years old and he liked the Minions theme and the fact that he had a new "power" toothbrush. He also liked the extra soft bristles. My 10 year old saw this toothbrush and wanted one, too. The stars I assigned to this toothbrush were simply for the motivation it provided to get my kids excited about brushing their teeth (finally!) As a parent, I was not as impressed with the features. On the positive side, it was a comfortable size for holding and the bristles were about the right size for my son's mouth. The design was attractive and the on/off buttons are easy to manipulate. However, I am not certain these extra soft bristles are sturdy enough to remove plaque, so that was concern #1. Additionally, the top bristles that vibrate do not actually spin or oscillate; the "power" seems more of an illusion, or a ruse to entice children. There didn't seem to be much "power" behind the noise. I would like for my kids to have a toothbrush that I know will help them really clean their teeth, and one that they are motivated to use. I would like that toothbrush, when turned on, to stay on for a set amount of time that would ensure they have brushed long enough. I would appreciate having replaceable heads, rather than having to toss out the entire device when it's time for a new toothbrush. I would also like to know that the batteries are providing some additional scrubbing power, rather than just providing little more than sound. The only one of these criteria that this toothbrush met was getting the kids motivated to brush their teeth. That's not all bad, but I will look for a brush that meets more of my criteria the next time I am shopping for a kid's toothbrush.
