I bought this as an introduction to embroidery, having experience with other fabric arts like sewing, knitting, crochet, etc. I liked that there are four different difficulty levels, and that the kit contains enough supplies that you don't ned to purchase any supplies except thread bobbins or whatever tool you prefer to store your floss off the skein - it even comes with needle threaders. The quality of the floss is okay, not as nice as DMC, but more than adequate to tell if embroidery is a hobby you want to stick with.
The back of the pattern cards have instructions for working the stitches, which is great, although some of the stitch names are different than their customary American English names. For example, chevron is called qianshan. The value is really great for all that you get and I do recommend this as a sampler for learning embroidery.
