Cruelly Small Space!

IHateWritingReviews June 18, 2012

Please do not buy this tank! People incorrectly believe that bettas like tiny bowls, but they don't. They keep to small areas because they are bright, easy prey. Humans can survive in jail cells, but it would be depressing and boring to be so confined and put on display, with no space or privacy. Fish (and birds, turtles, etc.) feel the same. If you're getting a betta, get a tank that is at least 2 gallons & give it some live plants, like java fern & water sprites, and a castle or something to hid in, as long as the holes are big enough to accommodate their delicate fins. Good luck!

CRUEL

A betta may "live" in this but he won't thrive! I'm constantly hearing people refer to "puddles" but they are much bigger than this! A puddle can expand in length and width with heavy rains. I would only recommend this if you are cleaning your real betta fish tank and need a holding cell or "cup.!" This would never meet the expectations of a betta fish! You would have to clean the water daily.

too small D:

bubblesthebetta November 20, 2011

ok, i know those walmart cups are small, but seriously. my poor betta cant even swim around in this thing! this is way too smal and the betta would have been better off in those walmart cups. atleast they can swim around in circles in those things! really it doesnt matter if the plant and gravel comes with it, gravel costs 3 dollars, and plants 3 for 5. then your paying 11 dollars for this thing, you can buy a 10 gallon for one dollar more. get a bigger tank guys. seriously.

OH MY GOD THIS IS JUST CRUEL!

ElTacoEater June 14, 2012

Now this so called "tank", is WAY too small for any fish. He'll probably die within a week if you used this! As a betta lover, I got to say, PLEASE DO NOT GET THIS!!! It's a common misconception that betta fish live in puddles. When in reality, these "puddles" are actually rice paddies in Thailand. 550 or more gallons.(Now, tell me you think that's small!) So LOTS of space. Bettas aren't from small spaces... They are actually from oxygen depleted waters! Meaning, THEY CAN'T SURVIVE IN SMALL SPACES LIKE THIS!!! They can survive in a tank without an aerator though. And they need at least 2.5 gallons to thrive 10 ideally... It may seem as if they are lazy fish, but under the right conditions, they can be much more active. Or even make bubble nests if they are happy. If your fish is in this, and it's not making bubble nests, then get it a bigger tank. (Well the males make bubble nests) I'd only get this if I needed a temporary home for my fish if I'm cleaning his tank. Other than that, NO I WOULDN'T GET THIS EVEN IF SOMEONE WAS GIVING IT AWAY FOR FREE!!!

Who could've thought this was a good idea?

Julie January 12, 2018

A betta would not even fit in this, there's no way anyone could think this is ok. Don't get a fish unless you have an actual tank. Your fish WILL die in this.

Awful

Orangematz December 23, 2011

Barely enough room for a Betta. Your Betta won't live too long in this "tank". I'd love to talk to the genius who invented this.

don't waste your money.

Anonymous January 16, 2022

how to know if your fish tank is too small for any fish: -your fish can't turn around -if you flick your fish tank it can fall over -you can't fit a filter or heater -the water gets dirty very fast -you can hold the tank in just your hand -a single small decoration takes up a lot of the space in the tank this checks off all the red flags. bettas need a 3 gallon tank to survive for more than a couple months. 5 gallons or more to thrive. the only thing you can put in this tank is probably a single snail, but i dont even know if the snail will do very well. just dont waste your money, the beautiful fish is going to die within a week in this thing just because you wanted a decoration for the house.
