We're very pleased with this purchase. I'm impressed with the quality of engineering that has been done with this lamp. Easy access to the light and batteries. Less than a quarter turn and top can be removed to access all the necessary areas. The top and bottom reflectors do a great job of dispersing the light. The light is cast onto the street as well. Another plus is the sealing of the unit. No bugs to clean out!

This is around 5 years old. I never had to do anything with it.

The lamp is the talk of the neighborhood. It was very easy to install and is the best lamp in the area.

This lantern is a very handsome piece, which so far, is working as described. We keep it on the lower of the two settings so the charge will last for the entire night. It took a couple of days to fully charge once installed. Installation was easy: my husband completed the task solo and it didn't take long or drive him crazy with unexpected complications or poor fittings. I gave it four stars rather than five because I would love to set the illumination output to HIGH, but we've chosen charge longevity over higher and brighter intensity. That being said, the lantern is lovely, does its intended job with enough light output to make the driveway easily viewable from the road, and for the lantern itself to be seen from a good distance when approaching the property. It doesn't match the style of my porch lights or exterior garage fixture, but I've finally outgrown the need for everything to be matchy-matchy. Recommendation: Get a nice post for it. Best news: With the solar lantern, no more worries about digging up the yard if your wiring running from the post to the house becomes severed - like ours did.
