I received this item free to try and used it to transform my tiki bar. As with other Command products the clips went up easily, held the string of lights and removed without a trace. I was kinds of skeptical because of their small size that they would not be able to handle the weight of the lights, but I was surprised to fnd they did exactly what they promised. Just bought a new house wit new vinyl siding and roof. Was very hesitant to hang holiday lights from gutters, eves and roof. Used the clips which were very easy to apply and then remove despite bad weather ie snow, rain and cold. We saved the clips and will just buy replacement tape for next year. These work great in the cold nasty Michigan winter last year. I left them up all summer and they have not lost there grip. Love them. We have new siding and windows so these were just what we needed. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I bought these to put lights up outside.Since we recently moved into our new home a few months ago and are now able to decorate with lights outside. They are great but from reading some of the reviews I wonder if some of these people didn't read the directions. Clean area with rubbing alcohol, attach the clips, one every TWO feet, and WAIT ONE HOUR before attaching lights. I followed the instructions to the letter and have not had any problems at all.
I first used these outdoor light clips to hang garland and lights around my front door which is partially protected by a porch the first Christmas in this house. Since they blended in with the white trim, I left the clips up over the summer. I am very pleased to say, I just put up my garland and lights for the sixth consecutive Christmas season! They are fabulous.
I bought these yesterday and followed the directions on the package. Cleaned the area on the metal siding trim I stuck them on beforehand and then put them on. Then put the lights on. Worked great.. or so I thought. I strung all the lights up. Wonderful. Three hours later 1/2 the clips were unstuck and my lights were hanging down. It was strange because after I stuck them on, I tried to move them and I couldn't budge them. I have used the inside versions of this and it works well. The outside, doesn't seem to work too well.
Most the adhesive backs did not stick, hence defeating the WHOLE purpose of buying them. I'm not sure if Walmart sold me old merchandise but someone messed up!
This is the biggest scam ever. It ain't THAT HARD to sell a product that actually works - or at least make sure your stock isn't dry. This is a big company, adding clear and useful instructions to your packages won't kill you. Great job 3M! Your marketing sucks, just as any other cheap company.
I have just purchased some clear clips expecting the the 'gum/sticky part' to be clear too but no it is a white. When purchasing you cannot tell this due to the backing. What is the point of buying clear hooks to be invisible if the they end up looking white anyway - confused !
Jung lights Sunday by Monday one or two fell. Over the night 2 more fell off and now that it is raining I am afraid what I will find when I get home but based on already falling off and other reviews, I have a feeling the lights will be on the ground :-( (yes we followed the instructions)
