Works Good in Laundry

NevadaW October 11, 2015

First thing, the instructions are hard to read. The print is very small and the “Use Titles” are dark blue print on a medium blue background. No contrast. The instructions themselves are very small white print on the medium blue background. I had to get my magnifying eyeglasses to read the directions. The warnings however, were dark blue on a pale blue background and much easier to read. I first tried the crystals in the toilet. We have hard water which leaves dark streaks on the inside of the bowl where the water comes in from the tank. I poured the suggested amount of Clorox crystals into the bowl and stirred with the bowl brush, brushing up onto the sides where the streaks were. It did lighten the streaks, but did not totally eliminate them. I repeated this two more times, each time the streaks got a little lighter. It actually did not work any better than the spray foam with bleach that I usually use. The spray foam sticks to the stains on the sides of the bowl so it is actually better for this application than the crystals. I then tried the Clorox crystals in my fiberglass utility sink. I filled it with water to cover the stained area and added the crystals. I stirred it around to dissolve the crystals then let it soak for about 20 minutes. As a test to see if it would bleach color out of fabric, I put a couple colored rags into the water to soak. It did not bleach out any color or make any spots on the rags. I then emptied the sink and rinsed it. It was clean. I would use the crystals again on that sink. Laundry: I used the recommended dose of crystals in two different loads of laundry. The first load was all white or very light items and I included some dingy socks and dish towels to see if I could tell any difference. There was a noticeable brightening of the dingy items. The second load was some whites and some light colors. The crystals did not lighten the colored items. I was glad to see that, as I’m sure if I had used liquid bleach, it would have bleached out some color. I like the fact that I can use these crystals and not have to worry about spilling or splashing liquid bleach and making unwanted white spots on things. The crystals seem to be milder than liquid bleach and therefore safer to use, while at the same time brightening the laundry.

Love this ítem, sprinkle and done. No more splashing or spilling. I do my son's laundry everyday. He is disabled and incontinent so doing his laundry is a must and having the clorox bleach crystals is perfect. I hope that this will be a product that gets popular and sells because I'd love to continue purchasing it. It's better than buying the bulky bottles for sure, easier to store and not at all heavy. Thanks for saving my arms from the lifting of the big bottles of clorox.

Been looking for this!

I am really happy with these dried bleach crystals. I have used dried bleach from the dollar store with mixed results, but I am impressed with the crystal form of my old reliable Clorox. This makes the bleach much easier to use, transport, and control, in my opinion. The crystals are in a very generous 24 oz. container, which is of the ideal size. It fits into my hand easily, or a pocket, or whatever bucket I am carrying around. I can bring it outdoors to clean things I don't want to put in the kitchen sink, and the crystals let me make small batches instead of large ones. Clorox talks about the "non-splash" nature of the bleach crystals, and that is very true. However, if you allow some of the crystals to roll onto your dark fabrics, and they are then activated by moisture...you will still have a color bleaching emergency! The package is labeled clearly, with the typical bleach product warnings in English and Spanish. Only one ingredient is listed, and not the largest or active one. That can be found on their website. There is no information on the shelf life, but otherwise this is a typical quality product from Clorox. I used the regular scent, which smells strongly of the chlorine bleach. Although Clorox does not claim these crystals to be a disinfectant, I used it for that purpose many times with no complaints. I have been very happy with this product, and will use it in the future!

It makes the whites white

CharmeusePrincess September 29, 2015

This product makes the whites white, so I like it for that reason. It smells like bleach, but not as strong as liquid bleach. I wouldn't put my face too close to the crystals, though, because it still packs a punch, just not enough to give you a headache unless you are very sensitive. What I did not like was the fact that you have to stir it to get the crystals to dissolve. I would not use this in a toilet because I am simply not going to go stirring anything in a toilet. No way. This is best in top-loading washing machines because you can't put the crystals in the bleach bin on front-loading. The crystals will dissolve without stirring in a top-loader, but not in a front-loader. While I did like how much whiter it got my whites, I wasn't too keen on it for other uses. I like to be able to clean my counters and stove with a damp cloth, I don't want to have to stir up a solution first. If you don't mind doing that, than I think this will be good for many household chores, so I would certainly recommend it to those people.

Great Alternative to the liquid

CNPS October 3, 2015

This is a great alternative to the Clorox liquid bleach I usually use. I was a bit skeptical at first, but quickly changed my mind. Not only did it work well for my laundry, but actually did a great job on those smaller items done by hand. The crystals look like little balls. They dissolve quickly and smell just like the liquid. The bottle is MUCH easier to store than the gallon bottles. I use Clorox in my dish water, along with toilet tank, cleaning out garbage cans and mopping floors. With the Crystals, you have a measuring cup (dosing cap) included that sets on the regular cap. It has two levels. 1 & 2 . 1- for laundry, 2- for general cleaning. I use a small pinch for my dishwater. I find these crystals worked just as well, without the splashing, and use of a big measuring cup. I buy the liquid by the gallons or larger, a case of 3 at a time. They are taking up so much space that we have to find space for them each time I buy it. These crystals will eliminate that. I can put 3 containers of crystals in the same space as one jug. Sweet. The crystals whiten my laundry beautifully, ( I have a top loading machine), easy to hold, very cost effective and the answer to my prayers about spillage and splashing.

Whitens and Brightens

multitalented1 September 30, 2015

These Clorox Bleach Crystals are just as good if not better than the liquid Clorox. My clothes are very bright and clean and the crystals were fast dissolving. I like that they are small in size and to me, a lot safer than an inadvertent splash with the liquid version. The smell is milder too. Sure I can smell that it's bleach, but it's not over powering and the handy load measuring/dispensing cap is a great idea. No more over pouring per load. I hope this product stays around for a while because it makes doing laundry easier and safer(no more splashing) in my opinion.

Great alternative to liguid bleach in laundry

SSSandANS October 3, 2015

The bottle of Clorox Control Water-Activated Bleach Crystals says this product can be used on fabrics, toilets, sinks, and hard, non-porous surfaces. The first job I tackled with these crystals was a toilet, where a hard water ring was visible around the water line in the bowl. The bottle also states these crystals "start working when mixed with water." I filled the dosing cap to the first line, like instructed, and poured the crystals into the toilet bowl. The crystals sank to the bottom of the bowl and I had to use the toilet brush to stir the water until the crystals dissolved. It took a little more scrubbing than I had expected to remove the ring in the toilet, but it did come off. I also used the crystals in a load of laundry (whites) and followed the package instructions - adding the product 5 minutes into the wash cycle. I really liked the fact that there was no splashing or splattering when the bleach was added, like typically occurs with liquid bleach, and the whitening power was consistent with liquid bleach. (Next time I use this product with laundry, I plan to add it at the beginning on "soak" cycle and then add my clothes and select the cleaning cycle.) I was not as impressed with the cleaning power on my kitchen sink. I had to use more of the product than I had expected and a lot of elbow grease to remove stains. Finally, I dissolved some of the crystals in water and used the solution to clean my kitchen countertops. I was pleased with the outcome because I knew my counters were disinfected and there was a slight clean scent in the air. Overall, I like this product because it is much easier to tote home from the store than if you purchase a gallon jug and it takes less room to store. I am pleased with the results when using it in the laundry. I will probably not use it in my kitchen sink or in my toilets in the future because I think other products are more effective and easier to use for those jobs. However, I do plan to continue using bleach crystals for their convenience and appreciate the fact that I won't have to worry about ruining my clothes with bleach splatters. Bleach crystals are definitely worth a try!

The Power of Osmosis

Lorinzo October 12, 2015

I was glad that the Spark Review program, allowed me to try this product for free, so now I know whether I would want to buy it in the future. The truth is, I feel safer with liquid bleach than I do with bleach crystals. I was surprised to learn that there was no plastic protective paper, over the opening of the bottle. There is a blue safety cap and a clear plastic cap over that, that serves as a measuring cup. When I poured out the measure of crystals to clean my toilet bowl, I was surprised to find a little cloud of dust. My eyesight is a little weak, so my face was close to the cup, waiting for the exact measure. The odor was very strong. If I had known ahead of time, I would have worn a mask. On the bottle itself, it gave several warnings about the permanent danger there was to the eyes and dangers to the skin, and to be in a well ventilated room. But it didn’t tell me whether it was safe for septic tanks or ground water. I thought this was unusual. The cap has two measuring lines on it and the bottle tells you how much to use for the list of jobs, that people normally use bleach for. For my part, the measure for cleaning toilets was too much. It looked to be two tablespoons. I flushed my toilet three times, and the chlorine smell was still very strong. As far as cleaning, it made the toilet bowl white and shiny, except for the faded rust stains it left on the walls and bottom area of the bowl. After scrubbing the area with a brush before and after an hour, I would have expected the whole thing to be white. But such was not the case. If you plan on buying this, don’t put it anywhere near food or your pet’s water and food bowl. I didn’t test it in laundry, because it said not to add it to the receptacles. Instead I would have had to wait for the tank to fill up with water, before I could add my clothes. Overall, other than a space saver, there really was nothing special about this product for me, that would tempt me to buy it in the future. The only reason it would tempt me, would be if it were a whole lot less in price, than buying liquid bleach.

So convenient!

donnor July 4, 2020

I particularly like this product for a quick little sprinkle into one of our home's toilets. We have a pressure assist type toilet that does not swirl as it flushes and therefore gets a bit grungier between flushings. I sprinkle just a bit of these crystals after a flush and it keeps the toilet sparkling between regular cleanings.

Modern age bleach

Amaris1 October 8, 2015

Received this for free through the spark review program I'm apart of. I have mixed opinions about this product. It's bleach but it's crystallized. Those with allergies or have sensitivity to laundry detergents be cautious. It's very strong and the smell is strong too. But it does do a fantastic job at cleaning, just wear rubber gloves, this stuff is strong. Works great as an alternative to liquid bleach for washing whites. I only use a little bit first time I used it in the wash, wasn't sure how it would work. My whites came out bright and all the stains gone! I was impressed. I also used it so far in the toilet, works great on that too! I haven't used it on surfaces or floors because bleach is strong and my dog has bad allergies, so I didn't wanna use this on any tile floors of my home. I recommend this but be cautious when using this, you don't need a lot to get the job done!
