BUY THIS NOW

Ginko88 March 31, 2014

these are absolutely incredible. I pick some up every time I go to Walmart. at just over $2 a pound on average (where I live), these things are a steal. best price I've seen. They are cooked, easy to prepare, and taste wonderful. Just throw the bag in some boiling water for a few minutes and you're done. Drain and serve. I like to cook them a little longer to make them firm, but you can literally just thaw them. Quality is always exceptional (and I have bought these many many times). They don't need any sauce, but I usually put a hearty portion of garlic in some butter and melt in the microwave. Forget clams, forget oysters, forget shrimp. This is where it's at!

Mussels

PAP54 September 23, 2013

I love this product. I completely defrost them before I add them to a hot mixture of garlic, chicken stock and white wine. Cover & cook for 10 minutes and they are done. The ones that do not open we open with a knife. Have not had a bad one in all that I have cooked. The problem is Walmart having them in stock!!!!!!!

Walmart - my new shellfish fish monger!

eloyer December 29, 2016

I use to say never farm-raised fish, but these are the best mussels I ever had (I won't buy any other farm-raised fish - yuck). They hang these from strings in the Chilean seas. I made drunken mussels with them, over linguine. I'm telling you, go get some - it was weird because frozen and cooked. I cooked them the usual way - butter, olive oil, garlic, shallots, white wine, and red pepper flakes. Believe it or not, Walmart, $4.48 for 2 pounds. Sorry, no photos, we ate them all too fast! Spectacular!

Excellent quality and packaging

I often use these mussels to make Mussels, Tarento style. They are very well packaged, clean and delicious.

Great Tasting

PaulV April 8, 2016

These go from freezer to table in minutes and I appreciate that they don't have a ton of shell bits and pieces!

Excellent taste

Lynn March 26, 2017

Excellent taste. We are always excited if we find these in a Walmart.. few stores seem to carry them though. They are about $4.48 for a 2# bag (two 1 pound bags). I love the two bags sealed separately.. easy to split them into an appetizer for 2 nights. Just good. I put them on a baking sheet at 350f for about 10 minutes, so they are warmed. Then we just eat them like that. Perfect.. and such an easy appetizer when you want to make it feel like a spoiler night.

Tasty and convenient, but small

NiTeMaRe63 February 21, 2011

I like these because they are tasty and convenient. They are much smaller than the New Zealand green mussels I enjoy at the Chinese buffet, but they also have more flavor. A little salty, a little sweet, and not as rubbery. They taste good all by themselves, but dipping them in a variety of sauces is also good (and fun). The mussels are already cooked, so you only have to warm them. Sometimes I don't even bother warming them but let them thaw until there aren't any chunks of ice remaining in the shells. (What's the point of warming up already-cooked mussels only to cool them back down again so you can eat them chilled?) The convenience factor can be a food safety factor as well, compared to live mussels...in addition to cleaning, you have to make sure there aren't any dead mussels. With these precooked mussels, someone else has already done the work for you. The price is comparable to live mussels in my area. Oh yeah...I should add that my girlfriend doesn't care for New Zealand mussels but she liked this kind.
