I installed three Coolaroo exterior shades on my second-floor windows here in Arizona, and the difference is immediate. They cut a ton of direct sun, and the bedrooms are noticeably cooler during peak heat—less strain on the AC and way more comfortable. Installation took some effort (stucco mounting isn't trivial), but totally doable DIY. I went with the crank version—smooth, controlled, and feels solid. Once up, they look clean and intentional, like a professional install. Yes, the rooms are darker—especially with darker fabric—but that's part of why they work so well. You trade a bit of brightness for a big gain in heat reduction and glare control. The biggest win: cost effectiveness. Doing this myself saved a significant amount compared to getting quotes from vendors, and the end result looks just as good. For the performance you get, these are an excellent value. Bottom line: if you live in a hot climate and want a real, noticeable improvement, these are absolutely worth it.
Working well so far. The instructions were easy enough. I put two next to each other so they were easy to switch the poles to the other side to prevent a gap. It's early spring, but they are blocking the sun well enough so far. Good for the price.
We have several coolaroo shades and love them. Keeps the porch much cooler and keeps the sun from heating up the house. New shade is for another section of the porch and looks like it will work well. They are also attractive to look at.
I bought one at first to try.The product and setting it up was perfect. The week after that I bought 3 more to match.Best purchase ever because it is a coolaroo product. They all look as good as the picture on line.Thank you for making this product affordable and available
Having a history of using your product, you were my first and only choice. I am pleased
The perfect accessory for my deck to block the suns glare on tv.
These roller shades provide decent shade and are attractive. I installed 3 of them on the west side of our deck, overlapping each other. They shade the deck well when lowered and keep it significantly cooler. When the sun is low enough to hit your eyes, a single shade isn't enough as the glare is very bright. But, where overlapping, the shade is much better that few minutes when the sun is directly in your face.
We have had Coolaroo shades in multiple houses and never had an issue. Until now. We ordered an 8x6 outdoor roller shade and the edge of one side was coming apart from the time we took it out of the packaging. Additionally, the shade doesn't roll up evenly so it looks wonky every time we roll it up. Disappointing. While the shade works and looks ok for now, I am watching the frayed side like a hawk and anticipate having to order a new one before end of summer.
Unfortunately the space dies not allowed for 2 6x8 side by side due to hardware requirement. Need a slightly smaller one to cover First one went up fine. Can the space restriction be addressed? Is a custom width 4 inches narrower possible?
purchased two different sizes to cover our patio and even though the color said "almond" - they are slightly different in the color and in texture. Not happy that they are next to each other and do not match.
