Over the past 15 years I have bought 3 of these and they last far longer than any others I have found. We run 2 umbrellas at our pool and everytime I try something different, I regret it.

My patio faces due west with no roof or covering. In lieu of heavy construction, I bought two of these in May '08 to provide cover from the harsh afternoon sun. I have been extremely pleased with this product. Since they are offset, they cover the area nicely without getting in the way. In addition, since you can adjust the angle of the umbrella, you can control the amount of shade you get throughout the day. Everyone is amazed by how easy it is to do that by myself. I assembled both of them by myself and that was fairly simple, taking about 30 minutes each. After attaching a piece of water resistant plywood to the legs (there are holes in them for this type of thing), I placed four 24" square pavers as stabilizers. This has made them virtually unmovable. they are naturally top heavy, so some sort of base weight is required if you don't want them to fall over on you and your guests if a descent wind blows through. During a severe storm, which included tornadoes, I was able to quickly remove the umbrellas from the bases by removing the securing screw and lifting the main section off the base. I just laid them on the patio and they made it through fine. Until I am able to construct something more permanent, I think these are the next best thing. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs a semi-permanent solution for shade. They have handled some pretty good wind and are easy to close if it gets too windy. A great buy!

We rarely order things online, particularly large items like this. It exceeded our expectations in ease of assembly and setup, and is exactly what was promised. It looks great and is very sturdy, and much less expensive than many others we looked at.

We purchased this umbrella after reading many reviews and checking out other name brands (more expensive ones)and we decided that since the price was reasonable (we got it on sale) we would try it for our backyard to cover the 10' pool. The first week we had this umbrella we were at work and a huge thunderstorm came thru and we realized that we left the umbrella open. When we came home we went to the back of the house expecting to see the umbrella in shambles but we were extremely happy and surprised that it was still there we no damage to it. Exremely easy to put together, nice looking only problem I have (being short) is to lock the top part of the umbrella to the base with the clip to hold the umbrella in place. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants a classy looking umbrella for a great price.

This product met my expectations in price and quality. It is very easy to set-up and extremely light weight--no moaning and groaning. One person can do the set-up. It must be secured or it will fly off--I used the recommended 18' concrete squares plus some extra 16' squares-the end of my pool area is like "hurricane alley". The only wish it tilted.

Although the umbrella is very nice we haven't been able to use it fully. We need to find a way to weigh down the base so it doesn't blow over with the slightest breeze. Other than that it's a great umbrella.

This is the third Coolaroo umbrella that I have bought. The first two had a plastic connector knuckle, which allowed movement. The first two failed within two years and the company would not stand behind it and there were no replaceable parts. I then tried a less expensive one which was worse on all levels. I decided to give the Coolaroo one more try considering it's price at Walmart. I was pleasantly surprised to see the plastic knuckle was replaced with a metal one. I have withheld an excellent rating to see how this one fares in use.

Easy to assemble, looks good and doesn't take up a lot of space. Not sure if I will purchase a cover for the umbrella. Overall happy with purchase.
