We are totally happy with our new umbrella. It was easy to assemble even for two 80 year old people. I especially like it because it does let a little filtered sunlight come through. Still keeping you ine the shade and keeping you cool. We had been searching for 2 months for the perfect umbrella for our deck and this is it.
Over the past 15 years I have bought 3 of these and they last far longer than any others I have found. We run 2 umbrellas at our pool and everytime I try something different, I regret it.
Maybe I missed it but I never read any where that 4 stone slates need to be purchased additionally in order to properly put this umbrella together. It was very disappointing to find this out AFTER we were all ready to put it together, had all the pieces lined out on the deck and were hoping to use it that afternoon. Need two people to put it together...very nice once it's all done. Very easy to operate and doesn't take up much room when not in use.
Item is very light weight easy to move from one location to another, properly should have order a large one but, this one will do for now. I love it so far....
This was to replace an identical unit bought from a spa store. The plastic pullley on the top broke and my epoxy repair didn't last. This one looks more substatial plus I'm saving the old one for parts if needed. This is a very good buy if it holds up for three or four years as similar pool umbrellas sell for much more in a specialty store.
I loved this umbrella for over my deck where my kids play. After using it for one summer and brought it out a month ago for this year, the top broke leaving my umbrella hanging by the cord. I've tried to contact the seller.
Good luck getting replacement parts for the stand when it breaks. If you do purchase this, do not leave this thing up in even the slightest wind. Oh, and by the way, the stand is not covered under the warranty. Check the warranty details, "5 Year Limted FABRIC Warranty."
The umbrella arrived and right from the beginning its been a bad experience. A bolt was missing for the main hinge. I called manufacture and they told me that they do not have any parts for there products and the only solution was to return the umbrella to Walmart. I found a bolt to use. When setting the umbrella up one of the plastic brackets broke. I sent this piece of garbage back and ordered another brand from Amazon. Hopefully it's a better product. At least my new one has metal brackets. Low price usually indicates low quality. True in this case.
The umbrella does it job well but has a tendency to break at the handle you slid up and down the main pole. You cannot get replacement parts from Coolaroo. They do not have them. You just have to order another one and throw $200 out the door for a $20 part.
After two years, the plastic sleeve that holds the lower angled arm to the vertical pole cracked making it difficult to have the unit stay upright. This year, the plastic crank housing itself that goes slides vertically up/down the pole that the plastic sleeve slides over cracked. On top of that, the umbrella tip came loose from the point that it anchors at the end of the curved arm. It renders it useless in trying to fully contract the umbrella. It stays in a constant somewhat open mode. I contacted their customer "support" via their website asking if any of these were covered under any warranty. If not, did they carry replacement parts that I could purchase. Never received a response from them. If I could have given a "0" rating I would have. I will NEVER buy another Coolaroo product again.
