Excellent tool for removing anode rod from a water heater. Used a 1 1/16 in (27 mm) socket (not included) to mate with the hex head on the rod. Only used for removal. Too powerful for install.
This impact wrench is high end with lots of power. I carry it in my truck with a 1,500 watt inverter to be ready for any road emergencies. Great buy!
I put a 4 foot breaker bar on the nut of a water heater anode rod and couldn't touch it. This thing took it off like it was going through butter. Butter!
Does exactly what it is supposed to do. Very powerful but remember that you MUST use impact sockets and extensions on any impact wrench or else you will lose most of its power. The only con is that it's heavy and sometimes too long to fit into some spots. Great at removing axle nuts!
The Porter-Cable impact wrench is one fantastic tool. It is rock solid and incredibly well built. I routinely use it for rotating the tires on my Jeep and Mercedes. It takes lug nuts/bolts off easily and quickly. Never use it to tighten though because it has so much torque it will strip threads easily! Works great on rusty bolts, lawnmower blades and other stuck nuts around the yard.
I'm a woman and I used this thing to install new rear shocks in my minivan-- in the driveway-- in 45 minutes flat. It's a monster. And it ran off the 1500 watt inverter we have in our van, so I didn't even have to run an extension cord from the house. It now permanently resides in the van in case I ever get a flat tire.
Had some work to do on my truck and expected to run into some rusted and stuck bolts. So I shopped around and did my homework on impact wrenches. This impact was my choice based performance/price and it made the stuck axle nut on my truck a breeze. I would recommend this tool for any backyard mechanic.
The tool worked perfect for my application, which was removing and replacing the 15/16" nuts retaining the blades on my 50" riding mower. Could not budge them with a socket and a cheater bar, but with this tool they came right off. This is an amazing impact wrench for tool for its well under $100 price tag. When compared to similarly priced tools, this impact wrench had more torque. Plus, I have never had a Porter-Cable (PC) tool fail me. The Pro's are high torque and high build build. I have no complaints.
*EXTREMELY HEAVY *AWKWARD BUTTON PLACEMENT *NO BRAKE ON THE TORQUE....JUST KEEPS RUNNING UNTIL IT SLOWS *DECIDING WHETHER TO RETURN BCAUSE IT IS SO HEAVY *SINCE IT IS A CORDED TOOL, NO BATTERY POWER LOSS TO DEAL WITH. THE POWER REQUIRED TO REMOVE LUGNUTS IS VERY DRAINING FOR CORDLESS WRENCHES
No brake! When you let up on the switch, power is still on. Causing over tighten or striped bolts!
