It has already outlasted my previous ice maker. I also like the new choice of colors, the fast recovery, and the low water shut-off feature. My only negative is the grooves on the cover. Although I love the idea, the location is not what I would prefer. Like many, I located my machine in a 'built-in' location. personally, I would like said grooves on the front as well.
This little machine is a work horse. I left it set 24 hours before plugging it in, just to be safe. I plugged it in, added water and made ice nonstop for 12 hours. At first you think how it's this thing going to make 20lbs a day. But it just keeps going and dumps a load of 10 ice cubes about every 8-9 minutes. I would let it make 2 batches and then transfer the ice to a gallon ziplock bag and place in freezer. This is a great machine to have if you use a lot of ice. Once you have a few pounds made, it will make ice faster than you can use it.
The brand on our ice maker is COSTWAY. I don't know why it shows "Stakol". I picked this up on sale for $50 with free shipping! UNBEATABLE DEAL! Started using it around Christmas 2024 and it's been running almost daily (it's MAY 2025 now). At least once a week I give it a break to clean, sanitize and allow it to fully dry out. We shut it off at night but don't always drain it. Other than that I run it all day long, we use a good bit of ice, and any excess goes into a ziplock and into the freezer. Over 5 months in and ZERO problems, complaints or issues. We only use Walmart GREAT VALUE brand distilled water, a fantastic product itself. I estimate we've run at 75-100 gallons through this little ice maker and it keeps going. So far, it's paid for itself many times over compared to buying bagged ice. It also has the advantage of producing excellent quality ice! It is pellet ice but even on the small setting they are big nuggets (we don't bother with the large setting). They come out about 1" long with a semi-hollow diameter of ~1/2". They crush nicely under teeth! TIPS: 1) Only use distilled water! 2) Clean by filling and adding a touch of bleach. Let it run for an hour, dump, use towels to dry the inside and let stand an hour. Rinse and refill with fresh water and let it run. Toss out the first few batches, the rest will be good. 3) Watch out for PINK BACTERIA. It is the most prevalent type on earth and will form inside your icemaker if you don't take care of it and keep it disinfected. If you see it, don't panic, it's also generally harmless. Just clean your tank. We HIGHLY recommend this icemaker. We'll see how long it lasts under rigorous use and report back. We did pick-up a Wally warranty on it for only $3, not too worried! ENJOY!
I LOVE this color ( mint green, really an aqua-green) !!! Washed it out first before using, per instructions. It worked perfectly !!! (we prefer the small bullet cubes.) Take your ice out right away, store it into a freezer zip bag or bin and you'll have ice when you need it. (Our fridge works perfectly EXCEPT for the ice maker, so this thing is the bomb !) It arrived within a week after ordering and in perfect shape !!! Thank you Stakol and Walmart !!!
It's more compact than other countertop ice makers, it doesn't take up much counter space and fits under upper cabinets. Since the size of the cubes is governed by time, I dump the first 3 trays of small, weak cubes back into the water so I end up with larger and stronger ice cubes.
The ice production is fast, cleaning it is not as easy as instructions said. The basket needs to emptied every 30 minutes to keep making ice and have to keep adding water. To keep machine clean the water definitely needs to be filtered if using tap water.
Works great, easy to use! Only dislike is that the ice cavity doesn't stay cold enough to keep the ice from melting - then when you dump the tray in your freezer it all clumps together. It serves it's purpose, just wish the cooling unit was a little heftier.
She received my order last night and was very excited to try it out as we go through Ice like crazy..according to instructions it says to wait at least 1 hour to use so that it can settle..I actually waited overnight and started to make the first batch at 12pm it took 1 HOUR for the basket inside to fill up. It took my 3 hours to fill up 1 gallon size freezer bag. Description says 7-12 mins for 1 batch of ice. The FedEx guy did drop this package on the porch so I'm not sure if this effected it in any way! I just emailed the company with my concern so hopefully they can help me.
I liked the ice maker when it arrived, loved the color. Worked perfectly, no issues at all. I purchased it 5/13/23 and by end of August I noticed the size of my ice was just slightly smaller but it was still making plenty of ice like normal and I thought maybe it was something to do with the buttons messed up for the size, making small instead of large and no big deal and kept using the ice it made. I got to feeling unwell, and couldn't figure out why. One night I was refilling the water and my daughter, who was a few feet away, said she thought she saw something in the tray just briefly as it moved. I looked and I didn't see anything at first glance so she bent down and really looked and found MOLD, all on the upper very back and in the tray that holds the water up to the metal prongs which when in use, unless really looking, you don't really see inside that tray. I had been still using the ice never seeing or knowing mold was inside. She only saw it because she was further back when the water tray moved. No wonder I was feeling unwell. I have no clue how or why as I only ever used gallon jug drinking water and it has been plugged up running 24/7 without any power interruptions. So warning, even though it is making ice, it can still form mold that you cannot see easily at all. Please, check frequently really well, the water tray, very back, and roof inside your icemaker for any mold. I never thought mold would form if it is still cold enough to be making ice, Mold forming never even crossed my mind. I could understand had it been unplugged or etc. but it never was and as said, it still made plenty of ice so it WAS working. Not to mention. it has only been 3.5 months since I purchased it and it did this so $ wasted plus all the $ wasted because I was going to the dr because I felt unwell. From my experience, I cannot recommend.
Arrived broken and they were unable to replace it. The ice melts and not worth the money. Only thing is they refunded me at least and we bought on Black Friday.
