Had this as an incredible citrus, vegetal espresso one time at a random coffee shop, and was so impressed I later called and asked about their beans. More shops should be using light roasts as an option for regular espressos drinks. Have ordered a few times and it's always good. Doesn't quite reach that same peak on my home setup, but it's a good choice for a reasonable price, and consistent.
I have been using Counter Culture coffees for approximately 3yrs. Since Covid in 2020 coffee was hard to come by in local retail coffee places. I decided to buy a book on coffee and became a coffee snob. Through trial and error I found Counter Culture coffee roasters. I now buy my brand directly from them and have settled on my Personal Favorite “Apollo” from Ethiopia, Organic and Kosher. It is a lighter side medium blend. Always tastes great very consistent. I can drink it black and or w cream. My Wife enjoys the same as me. I buy a 5lb bag about every 6 weeks. I have Never looked back.
Bought this at Whole Foods. I’m from Australia (where we take coffee seriously). Also one of those people that can smell/taste everything so found most espresso beans here smell and taste burnt. This coffee as an expresso is really delicious- the Meyer lemon note lasts and has a silky mouth feel that doesn’t make the mouth feel dry after. The smell is more floral - almost like heather - rather than citrus. It’s been my go to for several years. Thank you for a delicious coffee
Really good and consistent. We have a subscription and it’s our go to coffee for espresso and cappuccino. Closer to a light roast but no overpowering fruit notes.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This coffee changed me from a dark lover to a lighter roast fan. Floral and fruity are flavors I wouldn’t have said I liked in coffee until I had this. Delicious.
This is the brightest blend I've tried, and it has not disappointed! It's perfect for spring or summer mornings to wake up all of your senses and getcha going.
light, delicious, full of flavor. If you are looking for a coffee that is amazing and delicious, but not heavy tasting...this is your coffee. It has all the things I'm looking for in a coffee but doesn't leave me feeling like I just ate a steak.
at first i was upset with this current blend, i felt it lacked that citrus/floral i was looking for. it was roasted on 2/16. finally about 5 weeks of resting, I'm getting that lovely flavor I've been looking for. Flash brewed my most recent brew and I'm getting citra hops, delicate florals, and underlying notes of bakers chocolate. I'm always eager to dig into my new coffee's and I usually like to give Ethiopian 4 weeks rest for optimal flavor. This just needed that extra time.
Not terrible, but Counter Culture (& Ethiopian) coffee is (supposed to be) special. This bag poorly represents both: the uninspiring equivalent of airport souvenir shop coffee bought as a last-minute gift. I'll stick to single origin Ethiopian.
I bought a 12 oz bag of Apollo from Whole Foods, and the beans were unusually small, with several cracked or broken pieces. This made me question the overall quality and consistency. The flavor was decent despite the defects which didn’t quite meet my expectations.
