I purchased Counter Culture Coffee whole bean coffee to try a different brand. I grind my own beans daily for my morning coffee. The aroma was awesome! The beans ground to a medium grind perfectly with no oily residue. I used that grind in my French Press and 5 minutes later coffee perfection! The coffee was smooth with a kind of nut-like flavor. I also thought I tasted a hint of caramel sweetness. The coffee was superb. The price was on point. I would certainly consider purchasing again.
This coffee is incredible! Just smell it and you're sure to be hooked! It's smooth and nutty and caremely (if that's even a word!). I've used it traditionally and in an espresso machine and it never disappoints!
What a phenomenal discovery! It's a dream as far as no acidity, in my experience. Delicious chocolate notes with richness and so smooth.
First of all, it smells amazing when we first open the bag! Brewing that first cup of coffee with Big Trouble was great! I am a big fan of coffee with that nutty taste and Big Trouble have gotten it. I just ordered two other bags to try. Counter Culture did not disappoint!
Smooth, not acidic. Good as either an espresso or regular coffee drink.
Great coffee blend, a nutty balanced coffee with a nice acidity. No bitter aftertaste in the finish, slight sweetness, definitely a crowd pleaser
I was looking for a replacement for Starbucks, a company I can trust to follow ethical business practices . Bonus points for the delicious coffee!
One of my two “go tos”. I prefer traditional espresso flavors.
Great quality coffee, love counter culture brand. However, the beans were a bit old and dry - so missing out on the fresh oils needed for my espresso. Overall, good and will consider buying again.
What happened counter culture? This coffee used to be a beautiful work of art. Low acidity in a city/full city roast! But after taking 2 years off and purchasing it again in 2025, I'm sorely disappointed. Way too acidic and sour in an espresso, even after extending my brew ratios and grind size to minimize. I fell in love with this brand while living in Durham. I even went so far as to make a birth announcement with “big trouble” as the theme. My little family used to live breathe and eat this blend. So, please share this with your purchasers and master roasters. What on earth changed? We want the miracle roast back. In the meantime, I'm taking my business to other local shops, and big brands like Stumptown.
