After using the strainer a few times, it's a very durable strainer. It's built well and feels sturdy and made of quality material. It doesn't stand in its own when it's empty, but after adding some weight to it, it will stand on its own. It has a notch on it so it can sit inside a pan and stay level which is my favorite feature. It has pretty small holes so I feel it would be best used for tasks that don't need maximum straining.
I must say that I am very impressed with this Kitchen Strainer. Over the years I have had many strainers, but they all were made of a screening material that would dent, lose its shape and eventually tear the screening. I find this unique design and concept to be absolutely fantastic. I am sure with normal usage this strainer will last a lifetime. One side note, I find this strainer makes for a great "Fine" potato ricer.
I was needing something to strain my canned veggies when I am making dinner. All the other strainers I had had holes that were too big. I love that this is the perfect size for canned food, it has a nice long handle, and it isn't a great big bowl. Very convenient and makes cooking dinner a little easier.
This Cadillac of a strainer/sifter makes my old one seem like a Pinto! This item has a flat bottom on the inside and three feet underneath which means that you can rest it anywhere while the old one is rounded on the bottom which meant that it was difficult to work with. This item also has a wide lip across the front so that it can be placed across your mixing bowl resting on the wide lip and the wide handle. While my old one was flimsy, this product is very sturdy. I highly recommend this product.
This is exactly what I was looking for! It has a comfortable handle and is very easy to use. It has catchers on the bottom to keep the strainer balanced on the top of a jar while straining....helps a lot. This strainer does have a little weight to it,so be careful.
When I first received this colander, I thought, "It's too small!" Boy was I wrong! I've had a lot of colanders over the years. Those big cumbersome units that filled the sink for one cooked cup of elbow macaroni. But this little guy is the perfect size! I poured the whole pan into it and there was no overflow. This one is a keeper.
I love this strainer. The basket can hold various veggies when washing, but my true test was using it for rinsing rice. Not one grain got through the holes. It's lightweight, yet the metal is sturdy. My old one was was more like a screen, and it bent out of shape and tore at one end. I do not foresee that happening with this one. It seems very well made. It also has a hole at the base of the handle for hanging while storing. I am very pleased with this product and would recommend it.
This is a very nice, very solidly made strainer... the best one that I have ever bought! The size is just exactly as described-- 6"-- which will fit over the most commonly sized bowls/containers you have (water bottle in pictures for size reference). It is also a good depth for use with small-medium straining needs. It is very well made- the material is thick but not bulky and not too heavy.... very sturdy, not flimsy as a lot of them can be and the handle is also very sturdy- I can see this lasting for many many years so I am very well pleased with this strainer!
This is a very sturdy strainer compared to my mesh style strainer. When I put cooked ground hamburger in it and mash to get most of the grease out it doesn't feel like it's going to break from mashing too hard like my mesh one does. However the bottom of the strainer has legs on it to rest it upright without falling over but mine was made wrong and it will not sit straight without tipping. I never sit mine on the counter anyway so that part doesn't bother me. I still recommend this strainer.
This is a decent, average strainer. It's a good size, not too large or small. The holes are on the small side which makes it nice for straining finer things. The handle is nice, but on the heavy side which causes an issue allowing the strainer to sit correctly. The 3 legs instead of 4 are also awkward. Minor flaws that don't cause too much frustration. Over all a decent product.
