[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's a tough little sander .handled my kitchen project with ease. Very much recommend.
This sander was purchased in order to clean up some milled cedar decking, as my old finishing sander is just not up to that kind of work. I had initially been looking at a Dewalt, however comparing the two units, I couldn't find any significant difference, so I decided to save some money and cross my fingers. I bought the Craftsman belt sander at the same time, and paid only a bit more for BOTH than what I would have for the single Dewalt. What a pleasure to use! This is a powerful unit, but very light and easy to move around. It never bogged down on me, slowed down or pulled. It is lightweight, easy to control, and very comfortable. The dust bag system is very slick and easy to use, but be careful - this bag fills up FAST, and if the dust is at all damp, it gets packed in there to the point that you need to remove it with a tool - a side access would be nice. I'm extremely happy with this purchase, and have already suggested to several others that it's worth the purchase. I'm glad that the value here made the other sander almost a secondary thought, but that's a different review :)
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great sander. It has more power than most and the most affordable. I researched sanders and this one appeared the best. Can't go wrong with Craftsman.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Porter cable sander use to use this belt system, they changed to a different system that does not work as well and wears out quicker. They made the sander cheaper, not built as heavy. This craftsman sander is better built and is heavier built. Very pleased with it as it brings a higher quality product with it, thanks craftsman
I used a Dewalt for years and it was a good sander, just the velcro pads were a little pricey to replace, So I said I will try the craftsman sander. What a difference it performs as good or even better then the dewalt does and the replacement cost of the velcro pads are half the price. I still like my dewalt but the craftsman is my new go to sander. We build rustic furniture and we put our sanders through the wringer.
100% recommend. After roughly 10 years of service and countless jobs, the random orbit mechanism finally failed this week. I wasn't easy on this thing, I didn't drop it a lot, but it worked under heavy pressure, me leaning down on it, smashing it against edges, it worked very long hours at times, this thing was put to the test, and it passed. It is still a perfectly serviceable circular sander even now, and will be used to clean up corners and edges until it fails completely for years to come. But I'll have no qualms about buying another soon, Craftsman made a very high quality tool here, 10/10, I'm genuinely impressed.
I bought this sander after being so pleased with my drill/driver combo. I was building a table for my back deck and wanted to get the finish glassy smooth. This is so easy to use and the design is sturdy and no dust can get where it doesn't need to be. If you need a sander, this one is it!
works really well! Much better than my cordless Ryobi. But I bought this one specifically for the collection bag which doesn't work well.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this sander to replace an old, cheap sander I'd been using for a few years. This sander definitely powers through any of the work I threw at it in a much more comfortable fashion than my old sander. This one really doesn't transfer much vibration at all into my hand, making it pretty easy to sand large projects without needing many breaks. My only real issue with this sander is that it's tough to keep a vacuum connected to it. You pretty much have to jam your hose onto it, and either rely on suction and a free hand to hold it on, or duct tape it in place. It would be great if Craftsman would make a locking attachment that uses the same type of connection the included dust bag uses. All-in-all, it's a great sander that I'd recommend to anyone who needs one.
My husband just bought me my 2nd craftsman orbital sander. The first one was so awesome and lasted about 1.5 year. Then the sandpaper wouldn't stick, so he bought me the second one. This time, sandpaper will not stick straight out of the box. I dont know what to do, I have tried everything I know as has he.
