[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve had this for 3-4 years. No issues. Change the oil, spark plug, and air filter every spring. All of the issues that give this a bad review are unbelievable. It works just fine. I would buy another but when this one dies I’ll move to battery powered blower. It’s all about preventative maintenance and the gasoline use you. Use ethanol free gas when you can find it. I would definitely recommend.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use this String Trimmer everytime my yard gets overgrown. This product works well. I also like the idea of attachments but I haven't bought any yet. This is an awesome product. I prefer this string trimmer over the 2-cycle version. I would recommend this product to anyone. This product also cuts through an inch thick weed with no bogging down.
I purchased my Craftsman WS4200 weed eater in 2023 and have only used it about once a week during the spring and summer. I take good care of my equipment, so I was very surprised when it failed. On July 2, while I was using it, I suddenly heard a loud noise and the trimmer stopped working. After taking it apart to see what happened, I found that the clutch assembly spring had broken. Somehow, the clutch contacted the plastic clutch housing on the front of the engine and damaged it. The clutch itself was still in place, which makes it hard to understand how this happened. This wasn't due to abuse or lack of maintenance. The trimmer has been used only for normal residential yard work and has always been well cared for. I expected a product like this to last much longer than three seasons of light, once-a-week use. I'm disappointed in the durability of the WS4200. A clutch assembly spring shouldn't fail this early under normal use, especially on a well-maintained trimmer. I guess this is the new craftsman!!
Have 2, one a pole saw, one a weed eater. Both less than 30 hours combined. Both quite working. No spark. Junk equipment. Don't buy. They are cheap for a reason.
This trimmer died out on me within two years of owning it. I thought craftsman built long lasting products! I had previously wrote a review on it which Craftsman auto replied they would reach out but they never died! They care about their customers anymore!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] THE FIRST JOB I HAD WAS FIXING SMALL ENGINES UP TO LARGE TRACTOR ENGINES AT A HIGHLY RESPECTED LAWN& GARDEN SHOP . I WAS TRAINED BY THE HEAD MECHANIC WHO HAD GONE TO B&S 3 COURSES=1 EXTRA FOR SPECIALISTS. "IF IT DOESN'T START ON TWO PULLS SOMETHING IS WRONG !!". MAGNITO IS BAD AND WILL NEVER START !!!
I purchased this trimmer Sep 23, 2023 and like other poor reviews it died out on me. I would get it started then once I hit the trigger it would die. Now it doesn’t turn over at all. Same with their leaf blower! I loved craftsman but their craftsmanship seems to be going down hill.
What a disappointment. I knew the brand had fallen off but this is just sad. The head design may be the worst I've seen as it tends to need some sort of work within each line refill. I run all my small engines completely out of fuel before storing for the winter. This is the first time I have ever had a problem getting a trimmer started in the spring after adopting this practice. Knowing the connections on the shaft are a weak point I made certain they were always connected well. The fittings still wore out quickly. Basicly , its made of cheap materials. For a little more money a professional model and brand can be purchased that will give years of service with basic maintenance. Makes me sad to feel this way about a brand that once meant so much to me. I still have a corded 6 amp craftsman drill I bought over 25 yrs ago that is better than anyrhing comparable you can buy today.
So far, only one broken part in this first month of use. Lite use at that - lack of rain means grass does not need mowing or weedwacking. Two times out and the feed head is completely destroyed. Wish i had bought something besides CRAFTSMAN.
I have bought a craftsman 4-cycle trimmer from store, and start first time looks great. after 2 days I want to use it, I can not start engine, the start code can not pull out. it was broken.
