OK, Sushi is rough on the hands if you knead it the way you might knead a smoother putty, like Owl or even Funky Fidget. And yes, the rice grains come out of the putty a lot more easily than any of the charms do. I really like that, though. Stay with me, here: I play with Sushi by massaging the rice out of it--and that's what makes it a unique experience. It's not easy or practical to remove the charms from other "flavors." So if you like to play with Thinking Putty by squeezing it as hard as you possibly can, there are a lot of smoother ones and ones with smaller charms that you might find more satisfying. If you like to take things apart and put them back together, though, Sushi is a putty you can disassemble and reassemble. Plus, it's really funny. I think that's pretty cool.
I don't why, but, this is my favorite, which makes me sad since this one is poorly receiver. It does have a strong smell but I like it, smells like imitation crab to me which does smell gross but for some reason I like grossing myself out with it be cause its not an awful smell to me. As for the rice falling out it does, but the rice is chucks enough beads to fine was and reincorporate back into the slime. I actually came here to see if I could by a big tin of it instead of just the mini tin.
I bought this a few weeks ago and I still love it! I'm an adult on the spectrum and my favorite thing is to pick out all the ingredients, don't worry I put them back in the putty and seal it back up for later.
purchased April 26, 2025. Upon opening the product does have an unexpected smell that I would describe to be extremely similar to eggnog or clove. Not bad just not expected. Absolutely nothing like skunk. The added rice pieces provide a very nice texture and they are squishy whereas the charms are not, product is not entirely clear. Yes the rice pieces are going to fall out when you try to stretch it paper thin, play with it over a mat or plate. This guy employs a lot of special needs workers someone probably spilled some scent into it. Sushi that smells like eggnog, I recommend
I really like this putty, and I think the rice pieces were a nice addition. However, I do think that the ratio of stuff to actual putty was off, maybe if there was more of plain putty it would help keep the rice pieces from falling out. I noticed the smell too, but to me it kind of smelled like ginger, like what you get with sushi. I'm not sure if that was intentional or not. Still a fun putty though! I'd buy it again, maybe in a bigger size if offered.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So I saw the one star review after I bought it and hope she just got a bad batch or something but alas it's all true 😞 I was extremely excited to get this one but was a little disappointed. It does infact have a strong smell. To me it smells like either pine or w33d. But jokes on everyone I like that smell. The little pictures are seemingly more fragile than other putties I have. And the rice itself are slick so the do pop out. But if I hold it right I can keep them in or catch them. I would only play with it at home so I can collect the fallen soldiers (the rice).
As others have stated, the rice pieces just fall out all over the place, which means trying to stretch and play with this putty quickly becomes a huge frustration. There is also a mildly unpleasant but strong smell coming from this putty; the smell would be tolerable if the putty also didnt literally fall to pieces when playing. I have around 50 tins of Crazy Aaron's and this Sushi putty is the only one I would rate less than 5 stars. I have numerous other CA's putties with solid objects inside and none of them eject the objects like this one does. This is huge divergence in quality for Crazy Aaron's, as their experience should have told them that totally smooth, non-porous plastic pieces will not grip onto putty.
I liked the idea of this, but the execution is poor. I bought 2 of these. Issue 1 is the smell— this one smells HORRENDOUS. Kind of like a sweet skunk smell. None of the other putties have smelled like this. Issue 2 is the playability— the grains of rice feel nice in the hand, but they pop out of the putty super easy and are easily dropped on the floor. Also, the other sushi pieces in the putty are super brittle and snap in half if you bend them
I didnt know what to fully expect with a mini putty, but i was shocked that there was little to no little sushi peices. Lots of rice and the second you start playing with it the rice falls out. Also there are more broken clay piece of sushi than whole ones. And mine smells like straight w33d/ skunk/ pine. Leaves your hands smelling too. I will be throwing this away
Bought this for a stocking stuffer. I had never considered that I should read reviews for putty (especially this brand, we have probably 2-3 dozen of their products), but I wish I had. Scent is horrible, pieces pop out and if they stay in they are crumbling, putty itself feels almost dried out. Such a disappointment. I guess I should just be glad it was a small tin and not full size.
