I bought this as a second machine. I also own a maker 3. I love my maker 3 but wanted a little machine to get out for just little crafts as i do not have a designated crafting room. Plus I really wanted one! I love this little crafting helper! I use it often for cards, decals etc. And have also used it and my maker 3 for the same project, cutting the smaller things with my joy 2 and the bigger things with my maker 3. If you are on the fence about getting a joy 2 i would highly recommend.
I have multiple Cricut machines including the Original Joy and Joy Xtra. I love taking my Joy with me when I travel but didn’t have the ability to print and cut. I use that feature a lot on my other machines so I knew I needed the new Joy2. It was easy to setup and pair with my WiFi. I’ll be traveling the whole month of June and look forward to being able to craft on my days off.
The Joy 2 is fun to use. I like the size of it and the weight. Due to its shape it's easier to handle than the Joy. I love that when you load the mat/vinyl the machine gets to work without having to press a button. I also love that it scores and can do print than cut projects like stickers. I don't like that it's open. That's a major con for me. I don't want dust to get into it so I have to keep it in a tote bag. This was a key factor when trying to decide if I wanted to buy it or not, but the fact that I could make stickers on it won me over. It's a little thing, but I wish that when I take the blade out to use a pen or other tool that the blade would be magnetic to the machine like it is on the Joy. I always found that helpful. Overall I give 5 stars.
This is a GREAT little machine! My first project was a vinyl wall quote that was 50” x 73”! I used 10’ rolls of permanent smart vinyl. The machine cut it all out faster than I expected! I’m SO HAPPY with this little machine! I can’t wait to try stickers for my kids!
I didn't think I needed another cutting machine since I had just bought myself a new Maker 4, but I decided to give the Joy2 a try and I'm glad I did! The benefit of the Joy2 is its convenient small size and expanded variety of features. I keep my larger machine in my craft room, but I keep the Joy2 in a cabinet in our main living space and can easily bring it out for small projects and take it with me around the house. I love that I'm not always tied to my craft room now.
This came in handle I can make all kind of stuff I originally brought it to make cups with my grandson pic on them keeps me from paying people to do so
I value the convenience of having a smaller version for smaller projects, as well as the portability that allows it to be easily carried wherever it is needed.
Since I already have the original Joy, I found this Joy 2 seemed more cheaply built and I miss being able to close the lid. I was also disappointed when I tried Print Then Cut, which is the reason for the purchase, because I found that I need to get the longer mat, which didn't come with the machine.
The Cricut Joy is small in size easy to store away or sit on a shelf/desktop. To make vinyl decals is easy to use. The cards that was sent with the Cricut Joy was too small (3.5”x 4.9”). I use the app Design Space on my IPad and it only allows for cards measuring 4.25 x 5.5 - 4.25 x 6.25. Being a novice I haven’t found a way to change these parameters. I asked for the correct size cards to be sent to me but to no avail. I don’t want to send it back because I used the vinyl but the cards are really what I want to use to send to family and friends for the holidays.
Couldn't get it to connect or update firmware. Tried multiple devices including iPhone, android, PC, MacBook and iPad.
