Crooked Creek C10855 New Zealand Pine Wood Oar - 5.5', Marine Gray Finish

This oar is a nice solid wood oar, painted grey. Bought it for a replacement and matches well in length, and length of blade.

liked the looks and quality of the oars.

Was delivered as ordered, looks good. Best price I could find for oars. Blade could be wider to push more water, but other than that it looks good.

Product had a little bow in one oar.

Not thrilled with this purchase. After only one use paint is chipping and wood on blades is delaminating. Will see if they hold up though the summer. If so repair work will be needed. I did read a couple of reviews prior to purchase indicating the same issue. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

If the oars hold up for the next 5 years, I'll rate them +5. If they crack or warp after one summer, I'll rate them -1. Originals lasted over 20 years so they won't get that much use and no damage.

I wish someone told me this product wasn't very high quality and had thin paint spots where you could see the wood showing thru

I wish the blade part that hits the water was wider,

No where in the Walmart add, does it say this is a MULTI-PLY laminated oar! ONLY after receiving do you see, when reading a large " fineprint sticker" affixed to each oar. This is not a solid wood oar. It is cheap, lightweight, laminated plywood oar and yes, it is painted grey :( Poor oar, won't last a season!!!

I bought a pair of these this spring (2015) and within a month there was putty falling off the oars exposing rotten wood that mushed like a sponge. Then yesterday (Labor Day) I needed to row away from the shore to get my outboard started, one of the oars broke in half with very little force applied. I have had these oars less than 3 months. NOT RECOMMENDED! Waste of money!
