Haven't opened yet, it's a gift

My Crosley Brio arrived yesterday and I was so excited to use it. It worked perfectly for maybe 2 hours and then all of a sudden the sound of the record started to slow. I thought it was weird but maybe I had been playing it too long. Tried it again today and the sound is still slow and, now the speakers are so quiet. They are barely putting out any sound. I tried every troubleshooting option that I could find online- double checking the speed, replugging in all the cables, changing the needle, making sure the belt was connected, cleaning the record. Nothing is working. It's brand new. I'm so disappointed.
