Got this for a family friend who graduated college. He was so surprised with the quality of the set and couldn't believe how smooth the pen writes!

As always, cross delivers a great set. Someone around 10 years ago gave me a set, the gold version .5mm pencil (very rare, wish they would bring it back) I would recommend this version to anyone, great price, its an excellent value, plus cross will repair, think lifetime guarantee. Walmart, did great, would use again. Comes in a very nice box, I personally don't like the new thicker pens. Excellent weight, pens don't feel to light or cheap, great pen/pencil set.

I love pens and mechanical pencils and cross has never disappointed me. This set is very streamlined and very easy to write with.

I had to check the fine print because if anything sounds to be good to be true, most of the time it is. This is the exception to the rule. Top shelf items at " fire sale" prices.

The set shipped fast and was exactly what pics showed the pen and pencil set wrote flawlessly. I would recommend as a gift or even for self. Five star and best price anywhere.

Overall, this is a good set. The quality doesn't absolutely thrill me, but they are nice, attractive writing instruments and come with a lifetime guarantee. I haven't used either enough to know if they will hold up, but both pen and pencil are pleasant to use. The pen isn't as smooth as a Parker Jotter I bought last year, but it is still smooth, and writes crisply. Some of the other reviews I read appeared to be incorrect. One reviewer said that the instruments were indistinguishable when in a pocket. Not my set -- the pen has a small metal inset inside the black plastic cap which makes it easy to tell which is the pen and the pencil. Another reviewer said that there no "support sleeve" on the pencil. That is also not true of mine -- there is a thin tube that comes out with the lead (and retracts) which looks attractive and protects the lead against breaking. I had a similar Cross pen decades ago. This one looks just as good from a distance, but feels lighter and cheaper, and when I run my thumbnail across the gap where the two pieces come together, the "fit" is noticeably off. I don't totally trust my memory, but my old Cross felt industrial grade by comparison, at least as the impression has lasted. This set still looks great, and feels good in the hand, but aren't as substantial.
