i haven't seen this movie in yrs .i love this movie still
I now have a motion picture that I like having to watch whenever I want to.
The 1986 film "Crossroads" features a great Ry Cooder soundtrack and revolves around a young Bluesman guitarist who embarks on a journey seeking a lost Robert Johnson song. The film ends with a musical duel with Steve Vai portraying the devil's guitarist, and this is a classic scene that all players must see. For the price of this DVD, it is well worth owning a copy for your musical collection. I bought this copy because I had given so many away to friends knowing I'd simply end up buying another. Bottom line, great movie at an easy price!
Classic! A Drama with a touch of supernatural mystery. Up and coming story about a technically trained musician who wants to learn from an experienced Blues Legend. Will he learn things that Art School can't teach and how can both be beneficial?
This is an old movie I use to watch years ago! A friend had recorded it for us. We only bought and watched movies and never knew about what's new and hot, because we didn't have cable, didn't want it. So, the friend recorded this cute movie. Strange thing about it, I've never seen it in the stores. So, I ordered it the other day. First time in seeing in it, in about 9 yrs or longer. It's one of those movies I don't get tired of.
Again this also is a harder to find movie , I was glad to have it.

Great music!!
Great classic! Not commonly known. But we've all seen these guys in Karate Kid and the Lost Boys. And if you love Eddie Van Halen guitar mayhem... this one's for you!
Crossroads is a guitar lover's film. It is based on the legend that blues great, Robert Johnson sold his soul to the devil at the “crossroads” to become a better player. The story follows Eugene Martone (Ralph Macchio) a gifted, classically trained guitarist who is obsessed with blues music and musicians, especially Robert Johnson. He's convinced that there was a song written by Johnson that was never recorded. In his research he learns about a friend of Johnson's named Willie “Blind Dog” Brown (Joe Seneca) and tracks him down to a minimum-security hospital in New York. Willie tells Eugene that if he can help him escape and get back to Mississippi, he'll teach him Johnson's “missing song”. But unknown to Eugene, Willie really wants to get back to the “crossroads”, where in his youth, he made a deal with the devil in order to become a better blues player. Willie hopes to get out of the deal he made before it is too late. Like I mentioned at the beginning of this review – this is a guitar lover's film. Though everyone can enjoy it, I think a guitar player may appreciate it a bit more. The duel between Scratch's (Robert Judd) guitarists Jack Butler (Steve Vai) and Eugene is absolutely amazing. I must have watched the duel over a hundred times since 1986 and it never gets old. I recommend watching this scene with the volume turned up! The direction and acting is solid throughout the film. I personally love the performance of Robert Judd as Legba/Scratch. He's charming yet very menacing. Exactly what the role requires if you ask me. The score by Ry Cooder (who also plays Eugene's parts in the film) and Steve Vai is great! The sound of Cooder's slide guitar really sets the tone and mood of the film. I highly recommend this film!
