Air flow needs a redesign a bigger charcoal pan with no holes in the bottom I will say it smokes ok for a little bit until the charcoal pan fills with ash then the holes on the bottom fill up with ash and the air adjustment on the bottom fills up with ash and the air flow is choked off and the fire goes out with everything wide open I do have a different brand with a similar design and work really well but I need a bigger one thought it would work well I was wrong I know Cuisinart I s a great product but not this particular item I am disappointed in this item
It was for my sons birthday he loved it
I've already smoked a few things on my smoker. Everything has turned out great
Good build quality except for the fasteners, which are flimsy, at best. The coal ring is too small, and has to be refilled with fresh hot coals to get a long enough smoking session. Many posts online recommend getting a weber smoker coal ring, which is quite EXPENSIVE, to replace the one on this Cuisinart because it is twice as deep, so holds many more coals. Cuisinart should take a hint! Also, I, and many others, recommend sealing all seams, including the door, with high temperature stove gasket tape. This will help maintain a steady temperature, and keep the smoke in the smoker. This is a good, smaller vertical smoker, with a couple of modifications done. It's well built, and with good care/maintenance, should last a long time.
nice height. wish it were sturdier, but for yhe price point it it good. i wanted an inexpensive barrel smoker to "practice" on as i am a new smoker. dont overload wood or coals... fire will flare up melt the paint and burn your brisket. add a few at a time to temp.
My most important complaint is the thermometer…it doesn't indicate the correct temp I will have to replace it. It takes a lot more than designated time to assemble. The directions could be more clear the door handle was very difficult as to orientation of the parts was unclear. The Hatches are very flimsy both in the attachment to the base and it being securely fastened to the base. I've used it two times and was satisfactory but it's difficult with the thermometer is inaccurate s both times overcooked! It was at least 100+ over?
Was easy to put together. Had an old Brinkman vertical smoker that was about 20 years that was worn out. This one is a lot bigger than the Brinkman. Does leak a lot of smoke around the door and top. Got some gaskets material for smokers and put around the door and lid and now it still leaks around the bottom of the door. Will have to get some more of the gasket material to seal that area up.
Really 3.5 stars. Thermometer is not accurate, flimsy latches including the door latch. Ash cup fits very loosely sometimes falling off when trying to adjust the airflow.
It smokes great but the paint on e body peeled off from the heat and the body has rusted during 1 summer of use. It still works just looks bad. The top has some ceramic and is fine
I have not received my recorder yet!
